Do MOT stations regularly pick on motorhomes shock absorbers as an easy/espensive thing to fail on?

You need to go somewhere that does not do repairs .....
.... like your local council.
Or somewhere thats not touting for the work -> our local Truck MOT station which isnt council, but is ran by a Truck maintainance provider, with usually a queue for the MOT ramp most days (you need to book to even get in the queue).
Yes, they will fail stuff, but only genuine stuff.

I changed my ten year old rear shocks last year, after an advisory for "slight misting", and it was an absolute sod of a job to undo the lower bolts.

Very expensive near me 👎
Surely MOT rates are set by Government? Garages that quote a discounted rate are obv touting for business and will try to find extra work to do.

MGDavid — not necessarily, we’ve paid from £30-40 at the same garage for last 4 years. Always passed no issues.

Got mine done the other day because we'll be away in June, £40 at the local independent testing station. They don't work on vehicles so nothing to gain by failing vehicles.
