Motorhome Insurance

Not sure how the figures quoted here are going to be relevant as I thought the quotes are based on many factors including and the most significant value and post code.

It appears that the Tracker requirement is because the base vehicle of my MH is a Ford Transit which are being stolen to order for spares.

Could I ask, Have you done anything to make it more difficult for Scum and more attractive to the Insurers?

We, (MHF) have an Insurer who advertises on here. AIB.

Lifesure wouldn't insure me as I'm 74+ and Comfort insisted I had a Tracker fitted as the base vehicle is a Ford Transit.
Have gone with Adrian Flux at £390. Many thanks to all.

MotorHomeFun!!! A.I.B. is a little harder. They advertise as, A.I.B. but I have it on good authority that the initials stand for Airsports Insurance Brokers, but, as said, they advertise themselves on here as A.I.B.
In fact, if one puts AIB and Insurance into Google (apparently other Search Engines are available,) it takes one directly to..........A.I.B. Insurance.

"Has anyone got a better quote than from Caravan and Motorhome Club? My first renewal has just shot up from £800 to £1,100! "

That wasn't my circs, I quoted it from the OP.
However, later on TeeMyob posted," £232 Caravan and Moho club " so they do give it to folks who could fall into the manure heap and come up smelling of roses. He's just got an upgraded cabin on his Brittany Ferries trip. Lucky S*d!!!

To be fair, we have had 5 years of sh1t.

From Buying a Villa and then the arse falling out of the GBP. Then a Forest fire that destroyed our garden in Spain. Then we had massive storms and then Covid19. Now we have an issues with Squatters.

A couple of my family, friends and neighbours passed away in the same period.

But you know what, our immediate family are all still alive and well. As are we, as we speak.

So, onwards and upwards.

Still considering early retirement on a low income and becoming Spanish Residents.

Please also consider I was in the Euromillions syndicate on here and scooped a whopping £2.70.

I was with Safeguard. Almost halved my renewal with Caravan Guard. I think the moral of the story is to shop around. My Nissan Micra was costing me £42 per month (66 plate). Had quotes for new Abarth (like for like) £35 per month. Next year, Safeguard may be more competitive. But shop around definitely.

Has anyone got a better quote than from Caravan and Motorhome Club? My first renewal has just shot up from £800 to £1,100!
I find I have to change almost every year or I get ripped off. I've been with most of the ones recommended here and then the rates went up. This year I was quoted £783 by Comfort, nearly twice what I am used to paying. I went with the cheapest I could find which was C&MC = £337.21

I also tried the C&MC with my wife removed as she never drives these days and it went up to £413.24, so it pays to try out different driver options.

Next year........................?

Oh and don't believe anyone who says such and such a company is always best.

:LOL::LOL: £1100!!!! Depends on your driving history of course. Adrian Flux £320 including breakdown. Also my renewal went down £10 this year with them and that was with one breakdown callout.

I see all these people with fabulously low insurance quotes, what I would like to know is what are you insuring and what are you insured for ?

August this year. £337 from C&MC for a 2014 Rapido A Class 7.5m (me and the wife, 76 and 74).
But I was quoted £783 from Comfort and something similar from Adrian flux.

I'm checking out insurance on a 7.99 metre 2019 Rapido A Class and quoted £739 from Adrian flux with Comfort saying they can't quote, but not giving reason why. C&MC won't quote online as I'm already with them.

Just spoken to Comfort. They are insisting I have Cat 5 or 6 Tracker fitted due to my age (74+). Had a look at Trackers and they hugely expensive!!!
What has your age got to do with having a tracker fitted?

A-Plan, Thatcham branch worth getting a quote from. I "hope" to be able to use the breakdown cover that comes with our Bank Account; it says it's per person (account holder) in any vehicle...

Just run some quotes with and without tracker. Only one replied without tracker (Adrian Flux £739).
Five replied with tracker, four in the £500 to £570 range and Adrian Flux stayed the same at £739.
Four refused to quote saying that I'm too old. (76)
C&MC who I'm currently with would not quote unless I told them the exact make of tracker.

Every year it's a search online and calls, I now have a data base of companies insured with previously and renewal invitation prices. They are mostly such nice people when purchasing insurance this can change if ever you have a claim, no loyalty and recognition of past experience these days.
Thus back to the keyboard

Just going through this merry go round!
Found that prices have in some cases have increased dramatically.
AIB for instance, who I was with until renewal last September and quoted circa £480 at the time have quoted £836 this time, on the same van and thats supposed to be with the MHF discount!
Comfort still mega expensive . So have now had a good quote from Caravan Guard and will probably go with them.

Am still awaiting explanation from Hastings .
