Motorhome insurance time again

Did the A-Plan cover unlimited windscreen? This is a task I have to undertake today to find insurance?

We were with Advance for the last couple of years but we changed the van last year from a low profile to an A class and just amended the cover but Advance only cover screens up to £600, so we're having to look for alternatives.
Yes the lads there were very knowledgeable and told me at the offset that they would only look for policies with unlimited windscreen cover.

Just today renewed with Aviva via Comfort, as it is under 3 years old it’s a new for old policy, 6k miles UK and European b/down and recovery, cover for sat dish sat Navs, TV s . 5ton tag axle £490.00. Same as last year .
Probably could have saved a few pounds but Aviva are a proper company, just a shame nobody does a ‘Standing ‘ cover, which I can get with our HGV s . That’s with Aviva too!
I agree Aviva have come out tops for me (saved £200) after changing from Safeguard which had jumped up considerably this year as the renewal was £150 more! Anyone wanting a renewal quote try Paul Bayliss 1st lovely guy 01922 325151

Thank you for the heads up. I have just taken out insurance through Paul (thinkinsurance). he's very thorough and informative and also saved me money against the other best quote we had from Comfort, by £24 for exactly the same cover. So that's a £227.14 saving against the initial renewal invitation from Advance...well pleased(y)

This chap is very good. (Paul Bayliss). Just insured with him (Aviva is the underwriter).. Saved me £375, reduced my excess from £650 to £200 and increased my mileage from 4500 per year to 6000. He knows motorhomes and is extremely helpful and efficient.

Thanks for the heads up on Paul, just insured with him and Aviva as the underwriter as others have said. He took over £100 off the quote from C&MC which had increased by £9 for this year although they had included a £15.00 renewal fee! We've got better cover than we had last year and he was incredibly helpful, definitely knows his stuff!

None too chuffed that Comfort have not even made a token offer over the van being off road since February so will be doing a lot more searching of quotes in October.

Did you ask them for a token offer?. Remember is still had to be insured just incase it got stolen, broken into, set on fire and whatever else

just saying ;)

Yes i did indeed ask for a discount.

Van insurance via Comfort is very much charged on milage. An average over 2 years would be more equitable.

Would these breakdown cover quotes cover any/every vehicle I drive ?
ADAC refugee here looking for MOHO and car cover...
I'm also due MOHO insurance cover soon so I'll be sticking around (y)

cars usually yes but be very careful with the size of motorhome you have, some only cover up to 3500kgs and 7 mtrs, hence no use to me for mine

We got the renewal letter yesterday from Spitfire insurance. Never heard of them, looks like they have taken over from Staveley Head as they went bust. £213 with 10,000 mile yearly limit.

I have a horrible feeling I have this task in my near future. At least, I hope its my future. I'm sure I usually do this in April...

Thanks for the recommendation, I’ve just renewed through him and saved £140. And yes nice chap to deal with.
Cheers

A lot of COUK (Carthago Owners UK) members seem to use NFU. Some regional offices are more keen to attract MH insurance than others.
My local NFU office have no intention of offering insurance cover for motorhomes. I completed their online form to request a call back, which I duly received. Their agent started the conversation with "We don't normally cover motorhomes, what is the value of your van?" £23000 I said. "I'll phone you back" he said.
That was 3 days ago and I'm still waiting :Eeek:

i rang them up on monday asking about insurance and breakdown cover for my Comanche

No breakdown cover available on tuesday and “we don’t insure motorhomes above 5.5mtrs” on thursday

What a complete waste of space 🙁

I found nowhere cheap for > 3500kg. Ended up with RAC Arrival again. I suppose I least I know it will work.

You need to contact either Louth or Chichester.
For a value of 23k I doubt they will be competitive there prices normally start around £500 but they are cheap on higher value vans.

This is maybe the wrong thread but I have a friend who would like to borrow my motorhome for a few days to have a brief holiday but my insurers (Adrain Flux) will not add him to my policy - not a surprise to me. Does anyone know who might be able to offer insurance to the non-owner of a motorhome. There is no intention of any payment passing between us as he is a close friend.

Why won't they add him to your policy? Is it specifically him, or the same for anyone you want to add?
