Looking at L V motorhome policy t & c it does say glass windows only, can anyone confirm our expensive plastic windows/ rooflights are not covered ?

Great insight, thanks. I’ll definitely try LV and pray for consistencyAfter obtaining a few different quotes for Mrs Orion’s impending car insurance renewal, and finding they are all within a £15 spread, I did the same for the soon to be delivered MoHo.
Obviously all the brokers/insurers were provided with the same details which briefly are: Late 60’s 2 drivers, (myself as main with no direct NCB to transfer but 20+ years as named driver plus company fleet driving with no claims), in a ‘safe’ semi-rural postcode with off-road parking for new £90k value Fiat/Adria van with all the reversing, dashcam and Vanbitz gizmos fitted. Quotes that came back were all fully comp, protected NCB and more or less the same Euro cover and excesses - no breakdown or additional personal cover required.
Here’s how they stacked up:
NFU £1121
Safeguard. £802
Caravan Guard £677
AIB £506
Comfort £483
LV £352
Is there any rhyme or reason for the vast difference between the premiums, or do they just close their eyes and stick a pin in a chart?
BTW. Looking at the policy documentation of the likely candidates it appears that LV are not lacking in any area compared to the more expensive options!
Knowing Insurance companies after being responsible for over a 100 cars 60 odd commercials I would still advise Insurance, then record time and date, you never know they may put a note on your file also different companies work in different ways.My last van I uprated to 3850 I did tell the insurers but they weren't interested.
When you first insure a Motorhome they never ask about the weight.
like you I have travel insurance and home insurance and they still wanted over 600 hence stayed with comfort.LV for us. Most competitive price for van and car. Took travel insurance with them and got 90 days. Home insurance with them now.
With regards to claims, they were very good when we needed a side window for the van in France and we are having a new screen in the car tomorrow. Excess slightly higher for glass but how many screens do you have in a year!
Could you name those three please?Just renewed mine yesterday, increase was £319 and not much I could do about it. Only 3 underwriters in the U.K. will look at my value and this was the lowest quote. Oh well it’s paid now.
If you give AIB a call they shall give you all the details. My underwriter is currently ERS and I think Ageas is another. However, you would need to go through a broker. I use Buckingham Insurance who I find to be very efficient. Not sure who the third underwriter is. The way it was explained to me by the manager of AIB was as soon as you hit the key values the underwriters drop off. Once you exceed the 300k your down to just the 3 in the U.K. currently. NFU may consider but they are fussy and depends on a number of factors and appetite for risk at the time depending on their current portfolio.Could you name those three please?
