Motorhome crash testing - ouch that's going to hurt !!!

For anyone that did not understand the language spoke on the first video. The guy was explaining that the first crashed MH is classified as F**K*D, while the second is described as Totally B*G**D !!!

in reality it’s the internal fittings coming flying that would get you as much/more than the crumple zone not being there.

Trouble is that in FIATs crap vehicles your knees & face are THE CRUPLE ZONES, we drive around in crap vehicles (me included) knowing that we're taking our lives in our hands.
Give me a Mercedes every time, when you go to RTCs, you very quickly learn which ones work & which ones DONT.

Indeed - in my Ducato based A Class the ignition key is literally half an inch from my knee...wouldn’t take much to cause a nasty injury to my joint.

I’ll just try to avoid crashing I think ?

hot wire it you don't need keys …...

I had a Nissan Navara back in 2006, then I was told to check the NCAP rating.

Whilst under my Hymer B544, on the Fiat maxi chassis, I was amazed at the rear seat belt securing point, it was fastened to the steel chassis by a 12mm plate and six 18mm bolts. If that detaches, well there's no chance for anyone else.

My first 2 R-V`s did not have seat belts. Perhaps I would have been better off?. Beaten the rest of the garbage through the windscreen?. Instead of being restrained and having it all fall on me?.

"As I take the final curtain, my friends, i`ll make it clear, I`ll state my case of which I`m certain, I`ve lived a life that's full and may I say, not in a shy way, Hell no, hell no, not me, I did it my way". (pub open mic night, favourite)

I think this video did the rounds last year and it was an eye opener.

My stepdaughters used to travel with the table in situ, just like the crash test kiddies in the video and I wonder if a child would survive the head trauma when the table lifts up at the same time as their head is slammed down (see screen shot).

Thank goodness we never crashed !!

On a fully practical basis, Producing a Motorhome with levels of "crashworthiness" even equivalent to a modern car, would be near impossible. IF achievable, said vehicle would likely be so heavy that no one with a "B" licence would qualify to drive them. Other than making all the internal structure from some sort of "lightweight foam", damage to the occupants similar to that shown is inevitable. I am afraid that it is as much as can be done, maybe some tinkering around the edges.? But IMV, we have to live with it, and use the video`s to develop personal driving habits which put emphasis on "avoidance". And if you are that way inclined, Pray to your God.
