Motorhome Car Port

'Permitted development' has been mentioned - surely that means, not requiring planning permission.

However, if it is not possible to erect a carport to the spec the OP requires under 'permitted development', presumably the answer is simply to apply for planning permission.

Yes, I appreciate there's nominal extra cost and a small risk the application could be rejected, but it would be the sensible way to go if unable to meet permitted development regs.
Correct- but tweak the spec and you could get it within PD to get the end result required- nominally “ carport to keep the worst of the weather off”

The original spec was more like a garage

Our council expect you to pay to ask for permitted development advice!
I think that as I have an appointment with the planning duty officer next week and I cannot have my money back if I cancel then I will tell him we were thinking of a car port within permitted development. At the same time I can ask if they would allow a full garage if we applied for full planning.
Thanks very much for all your thoughts, it has helped greatly.

If you have the space or area within permitted development rules this type of trussing might solve the issue ref; 2.5m eves verses 4m max height?. To give your clearance inside?.

Thank you PeteH, that’s a great option. I think I have overthought this one.
A word with South Yorkshire Trusses should sort it.
