Hi guys , had my first break in parked in restaurant car park , fortunately nothing taken and no search made but muddy footprints so they were inside! im thinking they may have been disturbed! Anyway they’ve broken side hab window to gain access , blind mangled in process (however have fixed) window currently taped up , but is smashed and cracked needs replacing , anyone know any where that could replace , preferably in south of England , thanks in advance

You could try eeco, they do replacement windows, only downside is you need to send the broken window to them to match it, about a 2 week turn around iirc. I got a quote a while back for a hymer dinette window which was around the £300 mark...

Good luck

Because you have called your insurance but not claimed, they are now aware of it and it will be on your records… be prepared for your policy going up next renewal….😎

Well I called a claims line who advised they are nothing to do with Aviva themselves he advised he won’t Report it until I’ve had time to check costs and decide what I want to do . He will call me tomorrow

I found this too with Comfort insurance. It appears if they don't get as far as passing it on to Aviva it doesn't get recorded.

Where did it happen?

I take it you called your insurance and told them had a break in, I think if you had said a stone had hit thrown up from another car while driving it would have been covered by your windscreen cover.

Hmm...not sure a side window could be classed as a 'windscreen' ?

Sorry to hear of your break in
How about calling your Swift Dealer?, or any dealer that sells Swift Vans? they should be able to get a new window cassette directly from Swift, maybe even call Swift directly, however they will probably not deal direct only via one of their dealerships, but worth a try.
Be prepared for a wait though, anything inside 6 weeks is good news these days.
Good Luck.

Sorry this has happened, probably a good job you didn’t catch them in the act, or we might be baking you a cake with a file in it.

You could give this chap a call, he might be able to help 🤷🏼‍♂️

Dont know him personally, nor had any dealings, but he does work on the vans in our storage yard.

If you take another photo after looking around the whole frame of the glass there is usually a manufacturers name, code/paret number on the lower edge .Right hand bottomit is black on black though.

If they do that often they would be better off employing a car park enforcer.

Yes the iPad right in front of them but as it would have been dark wouldn’t have seen ,
They could have used a torch.
It still goes to show you shouldn't leave anything valuable in sight when you leave any vehicle, anytime.

Yes that’s what the guy said to me : he’ll hold fire on it before creating an actual report as may be preferable to dealing with it myself if concerned about ncb renewal hikes etc

It's a long shot but try googling motorhome breakers/recyclers/ 2nd hand parts. You might find a breakers near you & match up a second hand unit.

If you show us a picture of the window I may be able to tell you the make/type. Then it would be just a case of getting the measurements.

I would have expected Swift to be helpful, and tell you the make and part number.

I am no expert but that could be a Polyplastic window.

Hope you get it sorted without to much expense good luck😊

Seem like some suppliers are listing under the wrong code. you may need to measure. But type this into ebay...

plastoform window 43R 012458

Quite a few results?

OK this place also has more. but would need make/model and measurements of window to figure out if they have it. You can look yourself though ;)

seems reasonably priced.

Hopefully the alarm going off was what scared them off.

No alarm ? I’m guessing it can’t have one ? It’s 2020 Fiat Ducato cab and swift rear , i must have a alarm fitted! Certainly a deterrent

How much is your excess…?

It’s only the outer window you need to change and it really is as simple as unscrewing the stays and unhooking the window by lifting it higher up… installing is reverse of above…

Excess is £200 , so I’m thinking best to pay myself , Im having some other work done so the guy said her window and he’ll fit whilst doing other work

I’d check if you have an alarm, especially if you are now considering going through your insurers…..I’m with Comfort and im sure an alarm is required to be covered, I definitely know I need a tracker too……
