Hi guys , had my first break in parked in restaurant car park , fortunately nothing taken and no search made but muddy footprints so they were inside! im thinking they may have been disturbed! Anyway they’ve broken side hab window to gain access , blind mangled in process (however have fixed) window currently taped up , but is smashed and cracked needs replacing , anyone know any where that could replace , preferably in south of England , thanks in advance

Your insurance will usually sort that out with the likes of Autoglass who will come to you😊

2 good suppliers for motorhome windows. Magnum motorhomes in Grimsby are brilliant. There is another one but the name eludes me. Just over the river in hull. O'leary I think?

If it is the cab window (glass) then as Speve said insurance company should sort you out.

It’s not a nice feeling when you get your van broke into, We got broke into in 2017 and insurance payed for hab window replacement, we used Travelworld because it’s a Hymer.

Autoglass sourced a new windscreen for our last van from them😊

Yes i called them but will go down as a fault claim , so if it’s not ‘too’ expensive if rather cover myself , this is what I’m trying to ascertain now , also it’s hab window I doubt auto glass would deal with Motorhome Hab windows , thanks

If you show us a picture of the window I may be able to tell you the make/type. Then it would be just a case of getting the measurements.

Was there any valuables in the van that they could have had away sharpish?
Do you mean apart from the matching (his/hers) Rolexs and £10,000 in cash? 🙂
Seriously, sorry to hear about this and hope the OP gets it sorted soon.

Well all
Jokes aside there was a Rolex in cabinet right above the window the thief entered and an iPad Pro on table! For whatever reason they were in and out before they could even look about as nothing taken! Obviously would have been dark too

Because you have called your insurance but not claimed, they are now aware of it and it will be on your records… be prepared for your policy going up next renewal….😎
Well I called a claims line who advised they are nothing to do with Aviva themselves he advised he won’t Report it until I’ve had time to check costs and decide what I want to do . He will call me tomorrow

Where did it happen?

I take it you called your insurance and told them had a break in, I think if you had said a stone had hit thrown up from another car while driving it would have been covered by your windscreen cover.

Yes the iPad right in front of them but as it would have been dark wouldn’t have seen , i belive they must have been spooked as soon as getting in . As no search had been made, so I believe there were in and out , they left through hab door , I was surprised they just didn’t do hab door in first place as I’ve always thought A thief would easily pop it open if desired, they broke window instead , strange .. they were definitely inside though as muddy footprint on sofa below window and on carpet inside , and hab door was unlocked so they left they way

The orange tree pub/restaurant Totteridge , staff made me aware ‘after’ that the car park is regularly targeted , the £120 food bill was scrapped though , as I would have expected!

you should be able to buy just the glass if the frame isnt damaged easy job toi change as the topp just hooks on four screws to remove the stays lift right up and it comes off
Really appreciated but im useless at anything like that 😂

Wow lucky. Just the bloody damage getting in then :swear2:
Its a good lesson learned that if you are going to leave any valuables in the van (just like in a car) is to hide them before you leave.

Motor homes are an easy target no matter what extra security you might fit. Just don't leave any valuables for them to nick. :clap2:

If you take another photo after looking around the whole frame of the glass there is usually a manufacturers name, code/paret number on the lower edge .Right hand bottomit is black on black though.
The orange tree pub/restaurant Totteridge , staff made me aware ‘after’ that the car park is regularly targeted , the £120 food bill was scrapped though , as I would have expected!
If they do that often they would be better off employing a car park enforcer.

I had exactly the same with side window.
There's usually identification lettering on the 'glass' which may enable you to get a replacement (just the glass) 'off the shelf' or from a caravan breaker (caravans use the same window suppliers as for motorhomes). It's a doddle to remove the broken glass and fit the replacement - no special tools or re-sealing required. You only have to swap over the catches and stays.
I couldn't get a replacement so had one made. See here:
