Hello

So I am once again trawling through looking at all sorts of MH, I've always loved Hymers but have never looked inside one, in fact I've only looked in a brand new Peugeot one whilst camping.

My OH isn't too keen on the look of the Hymers as they obviously look odd to him, but not to me (in our price range) 9-13000k (+3k allowance as suggested)

So onto the other sorts of MH's some of them which were white once, but look a bit grey now with stains on them, some look a bit boxy at the front etc etc.

On Ebay, a lot of people are watching Peugeot Boxer ones. Some MH seem to have no interest at all and don't sell, (I've been on the completed listings too). So are all the ones with lots of people watching are these more desirable brands or are they more reliable? There's a lovely Hymer with over 150 people watching it.

There's a few I like but they are mostly over 100 miles away, big trip just to look at them, without the knowledge to buy. It won't be till next year that we will get something, but once we start looking properly and see something miles away, do we discount it and wait until there's something closer

I'v set my heart on a Hymer but have to be sensible if OH doesn't like them and look at others too.

So many questions, sorry but I'm just pondering..............xx:active:

Feel sure that when you both see 'the one' you'll know. As long as you and OH agree, that's all you need to worry about.

You could join hymer owners group on fb. It may help.
You could go and look around dealers as well

an important point drawn from your post. dont ignore the vans that are grubby on the outside but good inside. ALL vans get dirty and grubby just parked up in the british weather. a good clean and polish would make a huge difference.

equally some folk couldnt even sell anything. a badly written advert can often lead to a bargain. can you tell, i used to buy and sell motorhomes and caravans as a sideline? i would buy something from a bad advert or needing a clean, sort them out and sell at a profit a week or 2 later

I've noticed that, there are a few with weird write ups, some I've just clicked on and was surprised how nice the inside was, especially the upholstery, and visa versa.

Maybe ive been too pinikerty, need to look at everything in our price range and be open minded, thank you

You need to spend loads of time actually inside Moho's. Their looks from outside while important are not the most important, it's layout, layout, layout. Do you want/need a double over a massive garage, an island bed, twin singles? (n)
Looking at Moho's is half the fun, sit in them with your spouse and imagine being in there for two/three days because of bad weather without killing each other?
Can you sit on the loo and wipe yer bum without sticking your head out of the window?
Have fun looking and good luck (y)

Ha, I to hankered after a Hymer with the same reservations from my then other half, in the end I found one I liked on an island up in Scotland (on eBay) you wouldn't believe the story I could tell of my journey to eventually collecting it, and on the first few miles of driving it.
But my wife soon loved it as much as I did, and I still do, so the moral of the story is when you find what you want, go for it(y)

Thank you, I d like to look, but don't know any dealers in our area only private sales, do we fib and say we're looking?

Would really need to live further up north, loads for sale up there :groan:

Going to Moho dealers all around you will give you an idea of what you want. When you find it you can narrow your search. It took up over three months of looking most weekends, eBay, Autotrader, Gumtree.

That's one worry I do have as I've actually got no sense of smell, and OH isn't very good either, so no hope of sniffing out a bad one, we'll have to take someone along x

Exactly what I thought. Then my OH dragged me to see one she liked, and I spent an hour miserably failing to find anything wrong with it. So I figured, if I'm inside, looking out, what do I care what it looks like as long as it works?

After a week or two actually using it, I was converted. That was 15 years ago. We're now on our second Hymer and I don't think I'd buy a different make.

You appear to be in the Fens but that's a wide area. To the East you have Marquis near Ipswich, Becks near Great Yarmouth and Broadland nr Norwich are the major ones on Google search of East Anglia. There may be other smaller outlets.
Cambridge Caravans, Wellsbridge nr Huntingdon and a good list of others under Cambridge.
A few day trips would give you a feel for what you think you need. Then narrow it down.

As with anything like this it is personal preferences and budget. We like the look of our Hymer A class both inside and out. We also like the layout, the build quality and the payload and it was within what we were willing to pay. Every motorhome is a compromise but we liked the compromises made with ours.

Others may or may not have the same opinions, requirements or budgets. But given the number Hymer have sold both in the UK and the rest of Europe they seem to be doing something right.

We have only ever had Hymers on our 3rd.
Good value for the money fairly well made mid price van. We find the lounges spacious and showers good compared to Carthago's.
All down to personal choice they suit us and we have always got good deales on them and depreciation has been very low.

Just love the retro look, very spacious inside apparently and the furniture looks well made, and the many different layouts that seem to suit most people.

I might go in one eventually and hate it :D:D

But for years I have seen them on campsites and loved them x

I can recommend Simpsons at Gt Yarmouth as well, a very good dealership, but they do tend to retail higher priced models

I can understand someone not liking the look of a Hymer, they are a bit 'brick' looking but that is only exterior, you should really look at all vans inside & out, you may find the van not so appealing outside but the inside could be perfect.
Like a house once inside you don't see the outside......unless you look in shop windows whilst going through the high street!

The new Hymer Dynamic line & Exsis look much smarter & nicer with the new front end and they have a double skinned aluminum body.
