A few Funsters here already.

She sun is blazing down on us here at the show, 11 vans here so far ranging from the tiny to the massive,
every one seems to have dogs with them... of course we also have rats.

Seems the marshals just point you in the general direction of the club, so if you have satnav, set it to N52 10.767' W001 43.458', and you should get right to us

Heres a few photos of our clubs area:

no, we dont quite have a club blimp... those are from my electric R/C glider with camera on board,
i'm shooting the photo's blind... i.e. i have no diwnlink, so cant see what's in frame, i just have to fly a circuit and hope for the best... i can controll the shutter from the ground, but usually leave it taking a shot every 5 seconds and just fly.

Toffee the dog was having fun chasing the plane around as usual, got some great shot's of her running about, but then we got told off for not having her under controll (she was making other dogs bark) so she went and sulked in the van for the rest of the flight.

Do the rats like flying ?

Impressive resolution.

nice pics......never did get the hang of aerial photos but i was using a small, auto wind film camera at the time and was very expensive getting film of nothing but sky or grass developed:Rofl1:

i remember a kids program years ago with a rat, complete with biggles scarf, in a model plane actually flying.....no!!! not the rat:Rofl1:
how would they get that past the rspca today i wonder:Wink:

see you all friday...:BigGrin::Cool:

PS.....middle pic looks for all the world like the van next to Jim has a wind turbine... next shot i can see itas a satdish

that'll of been mine.... i'd just fitted the camera.... had it on my last plane that was a different type (i didnt crash it, it comitted suicide

so i spent half an hour carving a hole for the camera to sit in on the canopy (i have a multiplex easyglider electric.. a 2.5 meter wingspan powered glider, made of elapor.. a kind of polystyrene but tougher, any dammage you just pour boiling water over it and it pops back out, or glue it back together with super glue)

anyway, i made the hole, and the camera's lens points out the right hand side, but for some reason once i'd launched the glider, i flew left hand circuits over the vans... got some nice pics of the sky, but the only one i got of the vans was mainly sky, so the vans were too dark to make out.

but toffee and rocky had a really good run on last nights 'sortie' toffee loves running about chasing the plane in the sky, and rocky (jims alstation) just wanted to chase toffee about, so 2 dogs run ragged for the price of one,

Toffee is my lost plane finder, she wont take her eye off it, and when it comes down.. intentionaly or not, she'll run over and sit next to it guarding it for me.

Today was perfect tho, clear sky, hardly any wind, a few thermals but i didnt take advantage of them, as i was put off the flight due to being 'chastised' for letting toffee run about chasing it... hence the crash landing when i brought it in early (had planned a 45 minute flight), i was going round to land into the wind, but got some turbulance and was drifting towards a tent, so dumped it into the ground... i do have insurance from the BMFA, but i'll always sacrefice the plane, a few drops of superglue and it was back in one piece.

The camera is a 10 year old digital 'pencam', only 2 megapixels, manual focus, no viewscreen or owt.. but that's ideal, it has a board in it to allow it to run off the reciever's power, and i use the chanel 5 switch to controll it from the transmitter... up for take a photo every 5 secs, down for take one every 59 secs.. thats cos the camera shuts down after 60 secs as it origionaly ran on AA batteries, and if i toggle the switch it'll take a photo there and then.

but i'm shooting blind, no downlink or owt, i just have to position the plane where i think it'll get a good shot and fly a circle.

We were talking about taking a rat up in the plane today, i wouldent do it, but i imagine honey the fearless would be up for it, especialy if i fit her with a parachute and fitted bomb bay doors

WI-FI at Stratford?

Is there WI- Fi at Stratford

Is there WI- Fi at Stratford

Good question but speaking like a true male, specially one thats leaving before tea and arriving late, is there anywhere close by to get a meal or food during the evening, else we will have to stop off on the way up and pick up summit to cook when we get there.

Since this show is only 2 weeks after we got delivery of our van we have waited to purchase the finer things like cooking untesils and pans, we thought as well as getting a good price we would also get a much larger selection at the show.

Hi Tinyk
Yes we were in the same situation as you at the Carmarthen Show as that was our first outing :BigGrin:, we did have a few things to fill the gap so to speak on board though raided my emergency cupboard another topic and had some provisions for breakfast etc, we did find a good selection of items dishes glasses electric stuff and many new friends :Wink: although we still needed items not at that show there was food to eat in the daytime and a good fresh meat stand, but sorry cant recall any in the evening, there was a bar reasonably priced >>> imho

see you there champers

Thats great thanks for the info, we will ensure to stock up at tescos before leaving then.

Looking forward to putting a face to the names, its going to feel really strange finding people dont look anything like their avator :Rofl1:

Least their is a bar to keep everyone busy during the evening.

LOLOL >>>> hope you dont find my ears flapping like my avatar or as long lolo but he does seem a happy doggy:Rofl1::Rofl1:
We will be leaving anytime middle dayish fri (johns work permitting)If there is any thing we can pick up for you any others please let me know and we wll do our best:BigGrin:

Is there WI- Fi at Stratford

not that i know of, it's a racecourse, so would be hard to get the signal all round it, and no houses really nearby to have anyone with an open network (after asking them if you can use it of course)

most of us have a dongle...erm, a mobile broadband connection, i believe there are some in the club who have them plugged into wifi routers, but whether they let others connect to their network or not i dunno.

we're a pretty friendly bunch tho, so if you ask nicely i'm sure someone will let you borrow their connetion to get your emails or things, tho they might draw the line at letting you download a load of that porn stuff that i've heard the internet is full of

For people after food for the fridge and cupboards... theres a morrisons next to the train station, so just look out for the station signs from the middle of stratford on the way out to the racecourse, big carpark with lots of room for motorhomes to take up a couple of spaces.

For takeaway food, there'll be onsite catering vans, but they get charged so much for a pitch on these shows, they have to charge silly prices for food, but then again, a £3.50 cheese burger may be cheap to some.

pans and utensels, being totally honnest you'll get the best value going to somewhere like wilko's, unless you want really posh stuff... but we find cutlery gets scratched and chipped from ratteling about in the drawers as we drive down the road, so a 5 quid 6 person set every 2 years does us.

pots and pans, well we got a set of those tefal fold away handle ones, bloomin great they are, not sure anyone sells them at the shows, but for normal pots and pans they may be a bit pricey, if they can add the word 'leisure' to it somewhere then the price doubles :)

however for melamine plates, bowls, plastic glasses and the like, then the show is best, as there's not much of a market for that stuff outside the leisure world, tho some people hate melamine, and take normal breakable plates with them, at the other end of the scale paper plates save washing up

Wished I known you could arrive so early.

Mind you amazed when dad carers told me it was Wednesday, mad dash today now:Doh::RollEyes:

bring plenty of beer/wine for the funsters 'Bring Your Own' bar as the onsite bars tend to be a bit on the expensive side......unless you're used to paying london prices.

Its been a nice week so far. The marquee was busy and buzzing this evening:thumb:

Can you take your own drinks into the Marquee?

Here's todays, and unfortunately the last aerial photo's of the funsters area, as the battery for the plane has died.... well i pulled a wire loose and it shorted, broke the connection but not sure if i can repair it.

but got some good photo's today, heres the club area, begining to fill up:

And one of the show area, looks like there'll be a few decent accessory stands and fewer new motorhome stands this year, which is how we like it... got our dream and ideal motorhome, so all we spend money on is accessories.

Note the bottom right, the stand all you american RV owners MUST visit, Star Spangled Spanner, chris n duncans stand from this club.
