Motorbike advice

I’ve just got to convince The Boss,,,,

So it will be a no then.......:(

You need to adopt the correct strategy; aim high, then acknowledge that it’d be prudent/sensible to scale back your aspirations.

Perhaps, you start talking about getting a (brand) new bike. Viewing a target bike in a dealership, trawling the internet for the best price etc.

After a couple of weeks of this, you announce that perhaps buying a new bike isn’t the wisest thing to do and that perhaps a used bike would be more appropriate. This lowering of your expectations would also have the ‘benefit’ of ‘saving’ £1,000s of pounds.

In all likelihood Mrs @Mr B, would agree with you and, in my view, a flashing Amber is the same as a green light.

I thank you!

Ian

Ive just bought one of these, its no sports bike but 1200cc goes like a train and handles well enough for me and is just great fun.

In MrsB’s defence, she also knows that my (our) very good friend owns a motorcycle dealership, and every time I express my desire for a particular model, he always lets me have a go on it.... then says I don’t need it :(. Then states when the boss is around, that I’ve no need to buy one, just take whatever has tax/mot on it out for the day, as long
Is that a one-off paint job?

That’s how he got it, so no idea really

If it's any comfort I asked the missus if I could have a new bike the other day and she said no - she was very sharp with her answer too.(n)

When we saw my new bike in the shop, my missus loved it and said JFBI.

I did :)

I have arthritic thumbs and find manoeuvring the bigger bike tricky so I quite fancy either the KTM Duke or the new small BMW. .
I'm surprised you don't suffer great pain withit ? With mine even on a push bike I now have to stop putting thumb under the grip as too painful with in a few moments. In fact anything requiring a normal grip with thumbs under/around is a no.no.:(

It is sadly but I have recently had surgery on my right thumb joint. They have put a wire in called a tightrope. This was after a failed trapeziectomy. 7 weeks post op and it feels really good but I have to take it very slowly as it has to last 30 years hopefully. Left thumb is pretty shot but cortisone injections seem to keep it at bay. I did buy a wrist rest for the Ducati but never had a chance to try it out. Fingers crossed by July or August. May be able to ride the Honda. Cycling is a no no as ours have the stupid thumb change gears

First I've heard that injections are possible. That is exactly where my problem is the first joint. I will have to see whether Pedro the doctor will do my left one?

15 year ago before our V/bad accident on /with our Goldwing 1500, we had a Yamaha LC350 ,was nice a light on the bumper mounted carrier, was fab and with the right pair of Microns on it, sounded fab !!

New Honda 650r is nice to ride Comfy and quite good low down torque. Good little bikes.

Ride thumbs on top - it isn't difficult. I did many miles like that when riding in Winter - thumbs are the first thing to seize up in cold weather.
