Hi all
We're off to Lake Annecy and surrounds later in the year. We're going to take the smart car and have bought a virtually brand new Lider trailer. I'm already suffering from a bad back and thought installing a motor mover would be a good idea but started googling and am totally overwhelmed. Can anyone suggest a motor mover that would enable easier manoeuvring when unhitched?

Might be best to call the UK agent, they should able to confirm what type can be installed, etc.

I fitted one to my smart car trailer a few years ago, I couldn’t find any motor mover fitting company willing to do it as it was more involved than fitting to a caravan as it’s simply a matter of bolting it to the caravan chassis.

I had to fabricate brackets which then bolted to the trailer frame and then fit all the electrics etc. Was worth it in the end so I could simply unhitch the trailer with the car still strapped on it and motor move it out of the way till I was ready to get it off, then I got fed up with having a trailer so bought the present motorhome which I can simply winch the smart car into the back 😂👍

How about using a motor mover system with a motorhome. Assuming a front wheel drive van, fit motor movers to the rear wheels.....instant four wheel drive. Used in conjunction with the front wheels when bogged down on wet grass. The device of course could not move a three ton van on its own, merely giving a push when attempting to drive forward. Sorry, I get these ideas sometimes.

You can get jockey wheel replacements that are motorised- might be an easier retrofit!

Thanks for the replies, I think I have solved the problem........going to look at a year old Phoenix trailer with twin motor movers and leisure battery in a chequer plate box.
