MOT and full service done £647.

I've just had a quote for a full service and MOT for my a-class at a Fiat Professional garage in Birmingham... £959. Made me blink!

These prices are getting stupid but same with everything you go to buy now, expect it to be half as much again as last time.

What do they do for that?

Mine did include brake and clutch fluid change and MOT.
Are you going for it ?

I got quoted £678 for a similar service but mines a C class so A class maybe more difficult. Both are way overpriced. I reckon £300 is more reasonable. I'm just going to a reputable I dependent. Quality of work isn't necessarily better just because they are a fiat dealer or have nice carpets and coffee.

Well, by your own maths that's £470 in labour....£235 per hour.

You can hire qualified lawyers for less than that hourly rate. Too many lawyers, too few good mechanics?

Jimmy Savile bragged that his "consultancy" rate was £2000 per hour. Consulting about what exactly ... ? :Eeek:

I understand that but their mechanics must spend a lot more time on habitation stuff than mechanical, especially with standards of converters seeming to be dropping in recent years.

I think that warranty work does not always get recompensed fully by the MH manufacturer, so the cost of that gets spread over the rate for other customers. Think on't.

I knew someone who owned a Peugeot dealership. The sales side needed to be cross-subsidised by the workshop. Makes you wonder how the dealer networks for very reliable makes can survive. On the other hand, Jaguar Landrover ... :whistle2:

I just got a quote for a major service "with genuine parts" and an MOT from a motorhome dealer in Stourbridge. It's half the price. It's a 2000 [correction: 2020] registered van, do you think it makes a difference that the book won't be stamped by Fiat?

Absolutely not.
Have you tried Dave Newell @ Telford.

I have always done oil changes etc on all my vehicles and would like to on my Ducato. Is it easy to change the oil and filter on the Ducato? Someone told me access was difficult?
One of the easiest oil changes I’ve ever done. As long as you have the right Allen key for the oilpan drain nut. All accessible from the front end, no ramps or jacks required.

MOT , no advisories, full service incl all filters, clutch fluid change, brake fluid change £647.
No doubt could have got it cheaper but Simpsons at Great Yarmouth are a reputable dealer and one that if any query immediately correct without question.
With Jaws introduction to me and Dollie, in thetford 160 Pounds today ! whoop
