MOSQUITOS & mosquitos

Try to use your own pee on them,,not very tasteful, but works,your own ammonia does the job,,,but has to be yours👍

I feel stopping the bastards first is best...... At the FIM Motorcycle Rally in Kuopio Finland I swore by "Johnson's Off!" They sold it everywhere. Stank awfully. Then apparently whatever was in it was deemed nasty by the EU and the recipe changed. The stuff was marvellous. Like a forcefield, the bast'rds came to about a foot off you and no nearer.

Then I bought some in Florida at a Walmart in Sarasota. Same effect. Could walk around the botanical gardens and out to the old Ringling Circus estate and not be bothered....

Sadly the version sold by Amazon UK is packaged the same but not as effective.

Thanks for the tips on what to use after they have munched you.

Prevention:
a mozzie net round the bed - no longer the stuff of the tropics. If you have tiger mozzies or the big brown bodybuilder valencian mozzies and you have an open window or a small space you'll be happier with a net.
  • Alcohol - they always bite the kids first (what does that say about me., yet there is always a drunkard they'l bite so use other methods)
  • Trust your instincts - slap the sting - if you feel it, slap it - have usually always noticed when I'm being bitten - doesn't work for everyone
  • garlic - they apparently hate garlic - so, if you (both) do it, rub raw garlic on toasted bread, add good oil and topping of choice and eat - its a bit tingly!! (pa amb aill' in Catalan)
  • salt water - don't shower after swimming in the sea - the salt on your skin interferes with the mozzies ability to detect you - not foolproof but not bad either
  • traditional mozzie coils are good but never inside an mh.
  • My ex sprays citronella on the kids but I'm not convinced!

treatment;
. salt water - rub some brine onto the bite - it helps draw out the mozzie saliva (and avoid new bites if widely applied)
. Stoicism - yes, it's itchy and yet you ignore it...
. tiger balm - some people swear by this stuff. My chemistry must be different cos I never found it any good
