Rally Chat Mosel Rolling Meet 2019.

For anyone in the area there is a wine festival at Zell this weekend coming. 28 June till 1 July. The famous Black Cat wineries open there doors and much merriment can be assured.

If we get to Reil by Thursday morning 27/6/2019 from Trier. Can we expect to get a pitch.
Thanks for your help.

At the moment its very, very quiet. Its too hot for the local Herman's and they have all gone home to there swimming pools. Plenty of riverside pitches at the moment, but that could well change towards weekend with the winefest in Zell.

Anyone travelling to the Mosel today, be warned, its hot as the hobs of hell. Its 22C now at 7-30 rising to the mid 30s later. Make sure you have plenty of cold ones in the fridge.

Will leave treir early. Sat nav is a bit iffy but should be ok. What is the name of the stellplatz please as I am seeing different ones on the net

If you are coming up from Trier you cannot miss the Reil stellplatz. As you come into Reil you will see the bridge over the river, cross the bridge, turn left and follow the signs for the stelplatz.

We leave Tuesday, late, to head across. So think yours temps will drop Thursday and some rain possibly.
???

Problem is, our wonderful Dometic isn’t all that cold.
It’s usually pretty good but it doesn’t like this heat. :Eeek:

Richard.

A drop in temperature and some rain would be most welcome at the moment. I like the sun, but this is getting a bit much now. Thankfully, beer is cheap here, its keeping it cold thats the problem.
To give you some idea just how warm it is, I was servicing my spare cassette yesterday and got the jar of Vaseline to lubricate the seals, when I opened it, it had all turned to liquid.

I would happily swap the heat for the crap weather we have in the UK

Van booked in for warranty work 5th of July hope to be in the Mosel around the 10th have fun guys see you soon

You really don't want to do that, Vaseline is petroleum based and will attack the seals. I use olive oil.

Yippee it's turned into a toilet thread. :ROFLMAO:

We are holed up on a shady pitch on a site in Belgium waiting for this current hot spell to pass then we are heading your way.

The forecast says it’s going to be 34° today but it’s already 27° in the shade so that might be optimistic ? On the plus side, the fridge is working okay ?

We're on the French Moselle at the moment at Pont a Mousson and possibly will be in Luxembourg tomorrow (to fill up an empty tank!) and then a slow wander up the Mosel.

Are there any places to avoid and where are everybody?
Sankt Aldegund is a noisy site to overnight !!

Disaster has struck here at Reil. Sven who runs the little bar diner on site has shut shop and buggered off home. Its too hot. Am now stuck with semi cold beer from my fridge that is really struggling in this heat.

I thought Sven's Imbiss was always closed on Tuesdays?

Will you still be there come mid-Sept? (Doing Dusseldorf show and then wherever, before heading south.)
I have just come back from 3 weeks on the Mosel but thinking of going back for another stint in September.

We are driving home in the toad end of July for 5 days to attend a family christening. After touching base in the UK this will give us another 90 days on the travel insurance, so a good chance we will still be slumming in here in Reil.

We're escaping the Mosel tomorrow, it's too hot for us. We left Spain to escape the heat! One year we WILL get further than Kesten!

We escaped up to the Normandy coast a few days ago. It’s blowing a gale at Arromanches and about 18 degrees but I find it preferable to the heat in Germany!

Told you you’d beat us there ;)

We’re leaving the campsite on Sunday and we may do a couple of stops en route (depending on the weather). So we may see you next week x

Just arrived at a vey peaceful Reil.
Drove up from Traben-Trabach via Globus, a bit of a roundabout route but supplies were required.
Now on a nice grassy pitch beside the river and keeping cool under the awning.
Will have a wander later to see who might be about.

First impression is that it’s a very nice stellplatz. (y):D

Nice one Richard and knew the weather would be to your liking on this occasion, even if a little too hot :winky: (y)
