After the fantastic time we have had here on the Mosel during the last 6 weeks, we have decided to return in July for a couple of months.
I was wondering if anyone was interested in a meet here. If so, I could get it organised. Stellplats are around 8 Euros per night with the seventh night free, so no silly campsite fees. All Stellplats are on the river bank and on cycle tracks. BBQs and hog roasts can be arranged on the one we are on at Reil with abundant free wine tasting tours for the wine lovers.

Could do September. Your thread inspired us to return there. :)

We are returning to the UK from Spain in early July then after chores like house painting we will set off on the next jolly at the beginning of September.

We will still be here in September and I was thinking of posting just which Stellplats we are on each week so that those that like doing there own thing can jump on and off the circus train :).

Please post the good Stellplatz's or campsites.....We're off to the Mosel on Saturday for a week to dip our toe into Euro Motorhoming for the first time ;-)

Jim

Booked Camping Cochem for a couple of nights, but free after that

Sorry I cannot help with campsites as the only campsite we use in Germany is Munich. The Stellplats system is second to non, so to be honest I do not see any need to pay extortionate campsite fees. The Stellplats that we have been on for a week at Reil is 8 Euros per night including unlimited free wifi and all pitches are on the river edge. If you require hookup, that is another 2 Euros per night. There is a lovely river promenade in the village with bars, restaurants and wineries in abundance. Enjoy your trip as am sure you will.

Yes this will likely fit in with our plans, We plan to cross to Zebrugge early August. Likely Koln a couple of days before heading to Koblenz and southward

Sounds like a plan Dave, going to have a few weeks mooching about, keep us posted. We will probably be over there around 6-7 September, I have a birthday to celebrate.

Could do it next year Dave, however we found a nice Bavarian restaurant in All faz which would help your withdrawal symptoms when you get to Beni.
Have a great time.
Cheers

So you can put out the chairs and awning on a stellplatz, we are off for 3 weeks on Friday and I thought I would have to use campsites as SHE likes to put out the chairs and bbq

We are considering Belgium, Holland then into Germany this year..

General opinion is that France gets too busy during August, does this apply to Germany as well in the Mosel region?

We might join you in late july for a few weeks, sounds nice

We were in there a couple of weeks ago. We were heading for the Lidl just past it and thought give that a try. If its for sale, its in there.

Chairs, awning, mobility scooters, no problem. Leave the barby at home, this Stellplats has its own :). He tells me during:) the season he puts hog roasts on weakly.

We'll be in Bernkastel for the wine festival the first weekend of September (have booked on the campsite coz we know it gets really busy). Not sure what our plans are after that though - possibly heading down to Bavaria.

Late August - September would be good could tie it into the Düsseldorf show, it would be part of a 2 month trip heading home to Spain for the winter.

Dave you mentioned in another thread having to return to the UK ..any idea about when you will be returning to Germany..Mosel?

We are hoping also to travel along that route shortly and sounds great to meet up with you and other funsters there
