Having seen quite a few farms in operation, it would scare me seeing most of them swapping hydrogen cylinders or refilling from them. Scary

A whiff of hydrogen in the face while changing a bottle is no big deal, but I never had a problem with oxy and acetylene so why should hydrogen be any different?

Can't see them refilling bottles, just let BOC refill them.

I think we will be using mined Helium-3 from the moon before we get these hydrogen gizmos in everyday use.

You may not be wrong: there's a very limited quantity of hydrogen bottled as a gas compared with the same volume of propane bottled as a liquid. I don't claim any special knowledge of it's use but a bottle of hydrogen changed every time it runs out might make batteries cause less downtime.

I would be a bit concerned about sitting over a tank of hydrogen at 1050psi. Wouldn't you?

I think you would see your MH accelerate faster than a Tesla if something goes wrong with the tanks esp if made by fiat or ford........!

For small and medium sized farms then batteries are the answer. For larger farms and contractors some synthetic green fuel should be used. Ammonia, ethanol or diesel made for WVO would be ideal.

Many Farmers do not own specialised equipment such as combine harvesters they bring in contractors the machines run 24/7 Hydrogen would be an ideal fuel which is why the likes of JCB are very interested of course there may be alternatives, however Hydrogen offers a good alternative to diesel.

I still think hydrogen would be a bad move. Have you seen how many field fires are caused by harvesters? Also the volume of hydrogen is 4x that of diesel for the same energy. So you would need tanks 4 times the size to get the same amount of work (although it is lighter).
For farming I still think bio diesel or ethanol is the way to go for situations where batteries just won't cut it. The former makes more sense to me.

The future is bright the future is a mixture of alternate fuels such as Hydrogen JCB / gas boiler manufactures and others will help make that happen

Having had a local disaster in last couple of weeks thought to be caused by mains piped gas (4 homes demolished, family of 4 still in hospital, 2 critical), I would be VERY wary of hydrogen. It is a much less stable fuel and if something went wrong could have disastrous consequences.
