More Chunnel woes

But you don't have to.You can do it when you arrive.
On the couple of occasions I've unfortunately used the tunnel I have never inserted a card either. Just assumed it read the number plate ?
But that is not using the ''frequent traveller account" I think?

Being required to insert cc has been a bit random for me. Perhaps it is because I am now the secondary person named on the ft account? Perhaps only applies to vehicles like motorhomes, rather than cars?

Really no idea?

The only times the auto recognition thingy has required us to enter the CC is when it offers us an earlier crossing and we need to pay extra!

As a matter of interest, can the frequent trip ticket be used by different people or do you have to provide vehicle info?
If you share a FT account ONE of the account 'partners' MUST be on the crossing, it doesn't matter about other people travelling too even if you've already given the API info for them, they don't have to travel with you. It doesn't even matter what vehicle (so long as the one they're using is the one that you've booked the crossing for!). To reiterate at least one of the 2 account holders MUST travel on each crossing.

Do you think this wheeze would work for 2 solos if we both had are cards registered? Travelling at the same time I mean
If they want to travel at the same time in 2 separate vehicles that's not a problem either as they just both book the same crossing, there's nothing preventing this but a FT partner MUST be in each vehicle.

Technically no but there are ways around it. Both members register a Credit card to the account. When booking in the machine can ask for the credit card to be inserted.
Every time we use our Frequent trip I have not been asked this. If I was to allow a member of the family to use a crossing I suppose I could give them the CC to insert if asked. Not had need to gift crossings to family as I have needed my allocated trips.
You can use whatever vehicle you wish you just pay supplement for MH
You don't need the credit card, even though they say you should take it - I partner up with another funster who 'buys' the FT crossings and lists me as the joint partner however I don't bother giving him my credit card details (even though I don't have a problem with doing so) but instead just send him the money for my portion of the bill via a bank transfer. At check-in our reg no is recognised and then I just enter the booking ref number ... no problem with it at all.

As for gifting a crossing to a family member by giving them your credit card ... that is a NO-NO big time! When you've check in and gone to the passport check they ask for your passports and check them against the details of those booked to travel, I suspect that if one of the partners wasn't 'on board' you wouldn't be allowed to cross on that ticket so could prove an expensive issue if you had to then stump up for a crossing at full price or be refused totally due to a fraudulent activity ...

Strange!!
Been using FT for several years now and we are almost always asked to insert the CC at Folkestone. Can't remember being asked to do so at Calais though.
I think some sort of discrimination is going on here, shall call the police and register a 'hate' crime.:LOL:

Same for me. Although I don't have FT (yet) but I've done countless tunnel crossings with direct and CAMC bookings.

I do like your thinking, unfortunately the bike is a quarter of a ton
BMW GS.
We use FT but share it..
I also go across on the GS for a lads only spree in Italy and south of France.. which I book separately and not use the FT bookings

I have not needed to insert my card on the last few occasions, it goes on my Number plate adding the supplement to the existing card number, I wouldn't like to hand over my card to somebody however just in case.
