Hi All,
Ordered Mobilvetta K Yacht 80 with upgraded 4400kg chassis October '17 and up until today I was expecting it off-production on 22nd-24th of this month. Dealer informed me on the 15th of March that it was still on track. Now appears to be off-production May 17th!

Dealer has been very poor at keeping me up to-date and has never initiated any communication since paying the deposit! Why should I have expected anything different?

Ah well, hopefully worth the wait and a bit more time to sell a kidney to pay for it!

I'm really sorry to hear that N.

If your Marquis Leisure is anything like our local Marquis Durham branch then don't expect too much; they are crap at best.

That's a shame as SMC (via Douglas) kept us in the loop constantly.

Guess which branch it is?

You are joking, right. They are a bunch of (insert a very rude word of your choice).(y)

We visited Marquis Durham last year and we overheard one of the salesmen tell a lovely couple to go and shop somewhere else because they only had £30k to spend (as Marquis didn't sell vans in that price range).

I would rather eat my own head than deal with them.(n)

Starting to devour own head! I had no real choice in that, if I wanted a Mobilvetta, they were nearest if there were any warranty issues.
On the plus side I do have access to a good legal team if required!:D

Good luck it does look a lovely van when you eventually pick it up.

Many thanks - I'll post a pic or two when it eventually lands!
Yes please we looked at one in Marquis at Dinnington last year , loved the end bedroom with shower one side and loo the other very stylish!

Hi, any update on the delivery? We are looking for one at the minute but considering going to Dusseldorf show to see what offers we can get for a LHD.

If you've ordered one with either a 3,500kg or 3,650kg chassis then you won't in theory be able to run it legally in the UK/abroad because of the horrendous payload situation.

I haven't ordered anything yet, but if I did it would be the 4400 version as the payload scenario looks ridiculous on the standard model.

Thanks - that's interesting to get a real world view - how have you found the k yacht in general (and Marquis in particular)?

We have the k yacht 79 and fully loaded we weighed in at 3580kg
But to give us flexibility we are uprating to 3850 kg

The OP wants LHD so he/she must be intent on travelling around Europe where the likes of full water, full fuel, extra gear, extra hab batteries and possibly solar, bikes and other bespoke stuff will be needed.

Is that what your fully loaded means too (just so we can compare on an apples for apples basis).

If you buy a van from Europe then I doubt very much if Marquis will service or warranty it.

Our fully loaded was 25 lites water full fuel 2 adults chairs table bbq tools tv bikes food wine in fridge water hoses elec cables toilet fluids and lots of other bits and bobs. We are also looking at going to Europe but feel sure we will be able to fill up with water as and when as not planning on doing that much wild camping but this is why we are uprating

Did you make a note of the rear axle weight when you weighed your van at 3,580kg. The reason why I ask is like most vans registered at 3,850kg some of that extra weight cannot be used because you can't get the weight dispersed correctly over the axles. This could well mean that you can only achieve between 3,700 and 3,750kg on a 3,850kg registered MoHo.

Your fresh tank is 120-litres so add about 100kg to your weighbridge figure and then you're already at 3,680kg. You will also need extra gas IMO and a further hab battery for touring so that's a further 45kg off your available payload so that's 3,725kg.

I would check the rear axle and see what available tolerance you'll have to play with. There was a guy on a different forum who was registered at 3,700kg and he was stopped and weighed in France by the Police. He was only 30kg over his registered weight but the Policeman was quite insistent that he reduces his running mass.

This is something a good dealer should tell you about. It's ok buying a MH on the standard chassis and then upgrading it but you still only have a standard chassis and axle. As above you cannot use it all unless you can find some way to get the weight over the front axle. Yes you can fit bigger tyres and add air suspension but you still have limits to work to.

Dumb question perhaps?
Where is the weight split between rear and front axle limit shown?

Uprating suspension and tyres is good, but bear in mind the Ducato brakes are still the standard ones but will have to cope with increased kinetic energy when you have to stamp on them. Compared with modern cars the front disk diameter looks a bit weedy for the weight of a fully loaded MH.
