All the gear, and no idea!
Is it me or does anyone else think cooker hob manufacturers are missing a trick here, and the potential to make a few £000‘s
WIth the explosion of lithium and battery power why don’t they start making drop in induction hobs for retrofitting in various mohos, if they did one this shape and size

I’d be ordering one right now, I think they’re missing out on sales🤷‍♂️

Good idea. Off you go. 😄

I looked at taking the hob out and having a local commercial kitchen equipment manufacturer make a simple folded tray from sheet inox tray for the induction to sit on. Glad I didn't cos experience has shown that having a gas ring available has been useful ...

We could cook on electricity at home, but we don't.
Much prefer gas.
I’d always had gas until 2 years ago other than a brief spell when we lived in a village where there was no gas. I had a fancy new kitchen and somewhat reluctantly went for an induction hob, they are amazing. I couldn’t believe it. The modern ones are so fast and hot. Even stir fries are OK. When we bought our Consort Oslo last year I bought a single ring Vango sizzle. Even that’s pretty good.

Yes but with 6-900ah lithium and 885w of solar it would be FREE energy for cooking in and around the moho👍

Too small a target market, I have thought the same thing bemoaning Dometic for making our hob such a irregular shape

I use a small single induction hob, bought many years ago from Lidl, and it will stand on the glass above my hob if I wished.

I like the hob because I can easily control the power it takes when abroad, but I generally only use EHU rather than inverter. I can cook outdoors with it too

Well once you deduct the expense the batteries etc cost in the first place.

Exactly like carolyn we had always used gas until we moved into this house as we liked the immediate controllability up/down in temperature.

When we moved here the kitchen was in such a mess it had to be ripped out and replaced. Our trusted builder suggested the induction hob and we love it. As controllable as gas for quick temperature changes and much easier than a gas hob to clean. 👍

When we changed the kitchen just before Christmas we went for a single gas wok burner and a double induction hob domino style..best of both worlds!

There are induction hobs, and there are induction hobs. Some of them are not very good at all, as they are such low power, and that is dramatically reduced by using more than one cooking point at the same time. I very much doubt a motorhome version would be much good.

Close the lid and put a portable induction hob on the top.

You'll be glad of the gas backup when, not if, something goes wrong with the electrics.

We have a cheap Daewoo 2000 watt one rarely use it above 500 watts it gets so hot. 95% of its use is for cooking outside the van. Only used it once or twice inside the van as if its on top of the hob you are restricted to one pot cooking.

How much would that set up cost you for ‘FREE’ cooking ,I’d rather save the money and let some pub or restaurant do the cooking for me🙂

Some of the domestic ones aren’t much more powerful than that, and then the power drops on that ring as they start to use other rings.

Also induction hobs can’t be used by, or near anyone with a pacemaker fitted.

Only once you've bought all the necessary equipment to provide the electricity.

WESTY66 has invested quite a bit in his power bank .
I don’t think any of us gets the cost of lithium installs back do we, it’s purely for convenience, and that you have to pay for😁😁
I suppose I could sell my 3 ehu leads to reduce the costs🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It’s 60cm or 2feet so they’re fine to use fairly close to other people but BHF still say don’t use one if you’ve got one yourself.

The one that I think is going to catch more people out is the insulin pumps. They don’t like them either apparently. Their use is increasing a lot. Son in law has one now . Fortunately he doesn’t really cook much. Claire is very happy with the deal. He does all the cleaning and washing, he loves it!

Well I got mine back on moby .. but its different when you buy older vans.

I got the purchase price and everything I'd spent on moby back plus a little extra when I sold it thankfully.

Because now I've tested it and know I have plenty reserve power on this van I will likely add a bigger inverter etc next year. I'd be tempted on a compressor fridge if I could get one that fitted exactly where my current one is.

But I'm happy with gas cooking and heating etc.

Not bothered about changing any of that.
