Miserable Motorhomers?

It's normally a rare car or biker thing, waving , thing is since covid motorhomes aren't rare , there's 100s of them

An interesting theory, obviously the number of motorhomes has not increased any more than in previous years, however the way they are used may have changed, before C19 all the miserable motorhomers went to Europe, leaving all the happy motorhomers here in the UK... :ROFLMAO:

And don’t you dare operate the sat nav , radio or the windows whilst in motion . Both hands firmly on the wheel at all times 😁
I have enough trouble doing anything with my sat nav whilst stationary let alone on the move. Usual procedure is stop at the next lay-by and conduct any required reprogramming/ consult a real map.

On Apple CarPlay / Avtex sat nav it’s very simple . Quick press of the screen or use voice commands

I find I get more waves on the way to work in a BMW or Audi especially around tHe M25, these normally seem to be a very still one finger wave or a very enthusiastic full closed hand wave. I never get the same reaction in our van.

My wife waves. I tend to be trying to drive and watch the long line of cars building behind me as I have a 50mph limit in the van, sorry, C-Class I think.

She sometimes waves at horse boxes and the usual Tesco/Sainsbury's/Asda vans..

On my last solo run back from Rye to Hythe had 100% wave exchange. Mind you there were only two of them ..

As for chatting onsite. SWMBO will talk to anyone. Having a dog also seems to be an ice breaker....
On site sometimes have a better chat with the dog than the owner. No dog ourselves but thought about getting a joke lead and collar that looks like an invisible dog to fit in. 😁😁

Is it the original fit in a Fiat- small screen, fat finger's, bump in the road, oh bugger back to the beginning.???

The number of motorhomes on the uk roads must've increased since covid because none of the dealers had any in stock for months, New or used

Think most of the new ones are in Europe. Past a dealership on the way down to the Vandee and their forecourt looked like a rally meet.!

I can't be bothered to wave so got one of these :giggle:

Had a very strange journey home from Hereford.

We always wave to other MH's (Panelvan, C class or A class of any age) when passing on single carriageway A Roads and I would say that 90% of the time we get a response, this is in a 2012 C class.

Today the strangest thing happened, the trend took a gigantic step in the opposite direction, at most 10% waved back!

There were only Three differences that we could think of that may have affected this.

1) I was driving an A Class.

2) It was an older van.

3) Two males (reasonably ugly) were sitting up front.

Anyone got any thoughts on it?

Cheers

It’s not in the Highway Code to wave. You will not see Police Patrol car drivers waving.

I agree with you, in fact I would go so far as to shorten your sentence by removing the last word... :ROFLMAO: :LOL::rolleyes:

Cheers

Speaking of police..............i know, wrong thread, through France and Spain so far virtually non existant. Not complaining mind. Only complain when you need them and they don't show up.

A49 going through Church Stretton at about 5.45pm this evening, we got a wave back from a huge gold American RV the female passenger looked happy as if to say , “ finally someone realised we are not a public coach “ 😂

Considering giving up the waves. Came home Sunday and would say 5% waved back at us…. All different types of vans and people. We must have passed 30-40 vans
I always wave but to be honest, it is a bit like motorcyclists (and believe me I absolutely loath the thought of comparing myself to them) in that in the 1950's when there were not so many bon the road it was quite fun to wave. Now with the shear amount of camping cars on the road it almost at times becomes a tad tedious.
Imagine if all Vauxhall drivers waved to each other.
When other drivers don't wave back, as one we say "miserable bé&èçéds" but I do have a small amount of sympathy.

Just back from France, had a very high proportion of others wave back. Only saw six other Brits, and had 50% from them! I guess that people just need to get back into it.
