Hi want to get some mirror protectors which are best? burstner fiat Ducato also van is white mirrors are black do i go white same as van or black as they are?

My mirror casing got broken last year, got a nice one from an online scrapyard £70. So I'll save payload and money by just replacing mirrors 😁😎
my transit electric heated mirrors I can get for 30 pound new so I don't bother either.
My old mark one ducato would destroy lorry mirrors without any damage to mine:giggle:
Is it illegal in Europe or just a British rule?
Portugal has very different road rules to UK
It is illegal in the UK to show anything except white to the front. But unlikely to be enforced. It is totally illegal in parts of europe & will fail mot dependent on the testingstation here in spain.

A question on this, as they aren't factory-fitted, are Mirror Guards something you need to tell your insurance company about?

Would you also need to tell them if you fitted an extra solar panel, upgraded to lithium batteries, added a MaxxFan etc.

From personal experience, the Milenco protectors are great. They saved my door mirror in a 100mph impact (I was doing 50mph and the other vehicle was doing 50mph in the opposite direction). The black ones do fade and become matt with age. I can’t comment on the white ones.

Personally I think the white ones look weird but I'm guessing that white or black, they have the same protective characteristics so it is probably just a matter of aesthetics.

Dayglo orange but someone will still manage to clout them.

Has anyone seen or tried these ones from Pro-Carbon? Thanks.CARBON FIBRE WING MIRROR PROTECTORS – FIAT DUCATO / PEUGEOT BOXER / CITROEN RELAY YEAR 2007 ONWARDS

Carbon fibre? Doesn't seem to make F1 spoilers any more robust.

In France you don't see many 'Camping Cars' fitted with Mirror Protecters, Milenco are the only ones available here. I don't think I have ever seen anybody put reflectors on their mirrors so would think it is illegal here. Basically, even fitting the Mirror Protectors could be considered illegal as they are not an original factory fitted accessory.
On the black Milenco ones I had the "black that reflect white" ones fitted as they were surplus from the French (at the time) bollox about having them ruining a good paint job on my expensive Shoei bike helmet...

The 'new' MirrorGuards have 'silver circle' reflectors with their name on them fitted. I tried to remove them not realising their purpose but was advised by MirrorGuuard that they were there for a purpose! To stop people placing forward facing Orange Day Glow strips etc., on them which is apparently illegal.
Lol I put blue and white Battenburg reflective foil on my mirrorguards. Surely that cant be illegal🙄🤪

Dayglo pink. You can nearly guarantee that people will notice them sticking out

Personally I would love to 3d print something mad max-esque that looks like it is designed to destroy anything it impacts. A bit like a medieval mace or spikes

Those things are habitation conversion items, perhaps that makes a difference. I don't know, I was just asking.

I don't know, either, but I do know that insurance companies will use anything they can to void a policy. It hadn't occurred to me until you posted your question. Does anyone know whether or not things like MirrorGuards, additional solar panels, upgrade to lithium batteries, added MaxxFan etc need to be mentioned to an insurer, please?

Probably no disadvantage in dropping them a email to advise them that these items have been added, I usually do.
Mike.

We bought ours direct from them at Lincoln Show. I know they're often very busy. Have you tried emailing them? I shouldn't worry; they're very genuine people :)

It's a One Man Band, if he is away from the office/Home for any reason things get delayed.

I`m in the same situation ordered earlier this week and haven`t heard a thing.
Will keep looking in to see what is happening.
Think the Harrogate show is on this W/E - maybe they are at that?
Cheers

It's actually a two man band! :giggle: Just a couple of miles away from me. They make in batches when they have a certain number of orders in. But as you say if away from site at a show for example production stops.

Unfortunately the blue doesn't reflect!

And the remaining silver checker just appears as a single stripe

Make sure you lube them up with PLENTY of heavily soapy water. Ours were a bugger to get on but at least I know they won't come off too easily :)

Fitted orange reflective strips on mine. Not been pulled in the 3 years they have been on.
