Millport Activity Weekend 6-10 June 2019

Garrison house Millport

£40 fixed fee for 4 nights. £10 non refundable booking fee due by 30th Nov.

Booking priority until 1st Nov for those kayaking, either with or outwith the outdoor centre. Prices half day £40( afternoon) or £62 full day with lunch. Sunday 9th June. Kayaking fees due in full and non refundable by Jan 31st 2019.

Will have our own inflatable but I could be interested in a half day kayaking if its a decent paddle with a pro like @andy63

Martin I will add you to the official list either way but it might be an idea for an experienced kayaker like you if perhaps you can pay for half a day , sign a disclaimer and go off on your own with Andy. I did last year but it was just around little Cumbrae.

It would be good to get out for a decent paddle...
Im up there this wk end for a bit paddling... ill ask if they would just hire a kayak out for a half day and we can get round the island weather permitting... you can look after me(y):LOL:

That looks like a good plan Andy, Thanks Sandra @irnbru but ours is Canoe not a kayak;)

We are interested, half day kayak for me (Jay) David doesn't do water unless it's on the sea bed! Never been in a kayak so should be fun!!

Hiya Sandra definitely interested this time (hopefully no foreign visitors) and kayaking in the afternoon (if I can get in a kayak that is)!!! Hope still room for us. Elaine & Colin

I've never done Kayaking, could I book for this? or am I party pooper wanting to explore London? I would love to come , but I understand if you only want intrepid :coffee: people.

Sorry if I have replied out of turn Sandra.

We are intending to bring both our sit-ons which are lovely stable boats for anyone who hasn't tried kayaking before. If we have calm weather we'll be more than willing to let people use one with either Martin or I escorting in the other, and which ever one of us not in a kayak will be in the water swimming along side for the very nervous. Neither of us have coach or instructor qualifications so it would be at your own risk.

The bay at Millport is very sheltered and ideal as a starter or try out session. It is also possible to hire kayaks in Millport.


EDIT: When we were on the ferry earlier this year one little girl was really worried she would be seasick!!!!! The ferry takes minutes :)
 
Ferry costs (2018), return fares:

£3.30 per passenger including driver
plus vehicle

up to 6m £12.60
up to 8m £18.90
up to 10m £25.20

There is a ferry every 30 minutes in the winter (probably more frequently in the summer) and the trip takes about 10 minutes :)

My apologies and thanks for pointing this out Patricia. No idea how that happened. The location was indeed showing London.

For clarification the meet is not in London but on the west coast of Scotland.

Lol.. that made me giggle... have you seen it in a good southerly:LOL:
Last time i paddled there the swells were getting on for 2m and we had swimmers.:D
But i know what you mean... its lovely when flat..

No doing it with people who have never been in a kayak before if there are waves :)

We are negotiating with my son (fully qualified kayak coach) and daughter to see if they want to join in. They may need to B&B or do self-catering unless they come for the day :)
