Millau bridge

On a motorcycle tour years ago we stayed in Millau, and went to view the bridge as they were building it. Watching a while as they were lifting a pillar into place was an amazing sight.

Payment worked fine with my ATMB tag (approx 12 euro I think?) when I went across last year.

We found crossing the Millau bridge rather disappointing 😞. Just another bit of motorway and you can't see over the barriers. Get off and see it from below, however and you'll be amazed.👍!

We stayed in Millau for a few days about 5 years ago so now we go over the bridge every time.

Always nice though to say you have been over these things, same with the mont blanc tunnel, and many other things, one that comes to mind for us is sitting in st marks square drinking tea poured from a silver teapot, you are only here once , and for the sake of £20,or £30 it's a shame to miss these things, ok next time, please yourself but at least you can say we have done that

I agree with stopping and looking from the viewing point.
My Sanef worked too.

Oh yes, do go over it but the best viewpoint is from below.

Due to go over Millau Bridge next week can anyone tell me will the toll be taken on my Sanef toll tag or do I have to pay separately with bank card. Thanks in advance for your help.
Stop at the Center, its a good break, plus some good photo opportunities

I tend to get vertigo on thick carpet, but with the side barriers, you don't notice the height. Don't spend too much time admiring the view though.

A quick search of Google

Is visiting the Millau Viaduct suitable for children? Yes, the visitors' areas provide ... All payment methods are accepted, including E-toll pass tags.
Hell,o to all use this bridge many times during my working life on my way to South of France and Spain never had any problems with various tags, enjoy the views.

Youre right.
You keep paying and keep the traffic off my route.
Cheers (y)
the traffic congestion especially in the summer months made locaks lives a nightmare for travelling.
motorists could take up to four hours to cross the valley on a day of heavy traffic. With the advent of the 2.6 km bridge that leapfrogs the previous route, that duration has been dramatically reduced to a few minutes. It has also decreased the traffic congestion on the local roads, which caused much distress to the nearby residents, especially during the summer months

The film at the visitors centre of the construction process is amazing.
It was the subject of a weekly 'mega structures' programme that I am sure you can now watch on you tube?

We are <3.5t but 3.05m high. And get caught for class 3 on all french toll roads, don’t tend to use many of them now.

Definitely don't go over. Milau and surroundings have some of the best preserved villages in France. Stop off for a few days - you won't regret it especially if you are there for the markets.

Your tag will accept the charge.

I drove over last year just to tick it off my list . I thought it was great glad i have done it. Next time i might stop dunno thats motorhomeing for you.

We went over the Millau viaduct in early January using our Mango (now renamed Fulli) toll tag. The invoice has just appeared in the app on my phone. It was €14.20, inclusive of tax. We have a 5.4m PVC, under 3.5t.

Been over it many times, never seen it from below. Will do next time for sure.

Nightmare before they built it, we were on either the Trophy or the Bird and it was stop start traffic for miles on the normal roads after the A75 ended and we were heading towards Montpelier - roads not wide enough for a bike with panniers to make progress. You know that bit of A75 Mway where the speed trap is going south? well I thought (from the pillion I hasten to add, looking at the scenery rather than the road in front) we sort of came round a bend and saw a pine forest smack in front of us and felt like we'd take off and fly straight into it before in a split second realising how exceptionally steep downhill we were really going.

If you've got time, well worth a visit to the visitor centre.
I haven't been that way for many years. The original visiter center was directly underneath, but not sure if that is still there. But i know the last aire going south has a visitor center, and some good views.

The video is interesting, basicly they added sections to the deck at each end, then slid each half towards each other untill they met in the middle.

If you are into cheese Roquefort isnt far from Milleu, but not sure how camper friendly it is.

Have you tried pressing the button and shouting camper? when we were driving a 7.89m=L 320m=H motorhome thats what we did, always worked
