I know lots of folk on here have crossed that viaduct in the sky - the Millau Bridge - and thought I'd give a heads-up that there will be a programme about it on Channel 5, next Friday 24 November, 8pm-9pm.

It is one of a series that has featured famous bridges, which we've found surprisingly interesting. So looking forward to this upcoming edition.

Have been over it a few times and parked overnight in the cp no probs .
Great bit of engineering

Fabulous bridge. Have been over it but yet to look up to it from millau.
There are some full programmes on YouTube about its construction.
Really intetesting.

Some of the best views of the bridge are from Millau. We haven't been over the bridge yet because we always go through the town.
Perhaps I'm too tight to pay the toll. :)

Richard.

Just a quick 'bump' for anybody interested in this programme, on this evening at 8pm Channel 5, November 24th.

Well, I enjoyed watching that - a truly remarkable structure! :)

In case anybody missed the programme, it should turn up shortly on 5 'Catch-up'

And it looks as though next Friday's programme - which could be the last in the series - features the Severn Bridge. (y)

It was a belter thanks (y)
I see you are Bristol. I don't suppose you fancy a photography trip to the docks? Mission should you choose to accept it is visit the Portgarth tug before she gets relocated to another port. I'm sure the crew will welcome you.

Do you know when is it due to be relocated? We're off to La Gomera, in the Canaries, shortly.

As it happens, we were not a million miles away today. Went for a sunny walk around the marina in Portishead.

It's only rumoured and should have gone but she's still working. If you're up for it I'll check its there first (y)
I need pictures around the deck and anything fixed to any vertical surfaces and any safety signage. Most pictures are whole ship shots and so all the detail is not seen.
Enjoy your break! lovely

All the other ports make you jump through hoops for access but apparently Bristol is wide open. A friend took his PPE with him years ago and they took him out on a shout.

Wonder if we'd manage to get into the docks?

Fascinated to know your interest in it?

Your location picture above looks like Royal Portbury Dock. Looking at google earth images, I don’t think that there would be any chance of getting around dockside there.
Access dockside on the Avonmouth side of river used to be open, I used to work in an office at one of the grain importers, but I haven’t been in there for a long time.
