As a relative newbie I’m not quite sure what my annual mileage will be but at what annual mileage levels do insurers typically increase premiums? Really grateful for your insight!

I don’t think it’s a linear equation across all insurers. You’ll likely just need to have a play with the quote until you get a mileage/cost you think may work for you…

its also often easier and cheaper to ask for a little more than you think you need; as to add / change it mid policy they often add the extra premium plus an admin fee.

We've looked at this together with Comfort the more miles you plan the higher the premium BUT it's not linear as it goes on age and where you're planning to go
We started off with 10000 miles but now go for 6000 miles which includes our winter holiday of 1500 miles our real milage is actually around 4-5000 miles but it has taken us 5 years to pin down the milage by keeping records of every trip, including what I call service milage to an from servicing garages and Autogas stations

I would suggest you decide roughly where you are planning to visit then keep proper records of actual trips (mine is in an ODS file (like an excel one but free program) We include diesel and Gas costs using ODO readings to calculate mileage and number of nights and stuff like GPS location phone numbers and email addresses

Good luck hope you get an insurance company like Comfort is for us

My policy was for 6k which I reduced last year to 4k to save some money. Plus don't use van as much as we should.
Just had renewal and asked for quote back to 6k. They wanted another £370 for the extra 2k which more or less doubled the premium.

I have a 5K limit and when insurance is due next May will ask what difference a lesser or higher mileage will make.
And depending on cost decide what to do.
Our campervan is also our daily ride so although I do keep records of our trips it's mainly to compare from trip to trip.
I simply check milage monthly and make sure I'm not too near to our limit.
Also check mot mileages once a year.

A lot of companies charge £25 some charge more to amend policies. We are with NFU they don't charge, they just charge for the mileage increase.
I've got mine at 8,000 miles only had the van 6 months I'm going to have to put it up to either 10,000 or 12,000.

I found Comfort dropped my premium considerably by lowering the mileage by not a lot.
I thinks it's aimed at people who use their van for the daily commute

I go on a comparison site and play around with the mileage to see what the cost differentials is. Some companies increase every 1,000 miles and others seem to have say 3,000 mile "windows" that increases are based on
