HYMER B584

Hi Folks.
I wanted to know if it is possible to run a microwave whilst off grid, if so which brand and wattage.
I have 2 wet acid 90 amp for the habitacion powered by solar I have a 2002 B584 hymer.

Don't forget, the rated wattage of a microwave is the OUTPUT wattage.
The input current/wattage could be double that.
As for draining the batteries, I assume it will only be used for reheating food....pies etc..for a few minutes so won't take a lot from the batteries but Techno's comment about discharge rates still applies.

Just took delivery of the 600w oven.
Real panel rating shows input power of 1000w. Just put it on a meter and high power was 1080w.

This is an interesting video ref reducing the power.

We have a 320 watt microwave. I like having a low power microwave but it's a slight faff when cooking multiple items and takes quite a while, so you might like to consider their 500 watt unit.

I am just looking into this now as we are planning to do the same.
At present we have 2 x 90amp Varta batteries with a Kreiger 1100w Inverter. We often use a small air fryer reated at 1000w and no issues.
As Guigsy says, microwaves draw more power at start up and the figure quoted on the front ie 700w is the cooking power and NOT the input requirement..

I have found someone selling modified microwaves but they are just cheap models and once modified then sold at a much inflated price over £100+

This model gets some recomendations, 600w cooking power and around 1000w input..
Broken Link Removed

"Is that the maximum power consumption of the RHM1401B is a very reasonable 1000W or 4.17 amps."..
Really interested in your recommendation however it appears this item is no longer in stock. Are there any alternatives ? I own a old Chausson motorhome and the over head height of the oven is quite dangerous to cook on so I want to replace it with a integral microwave . Appreciate any advice please

Be honest, just gave up. 😉
Not really thought about it since.
I invested in a compressor fridge to play with instead. 🤣
