Might help if you can highlight if you have any specific needs for one other than just to keep the batteries topped up when solar isn't able to help much.
Otherwise, the smallest Honda is what I would get if I needed one but I would look at the B2B option first.

1.25MVA in full acoustic enclosure going in a couple of years ago.
Quiet enough you can stand next to it and hold a telephone conversation.
Unlike the pathetic wee things that can drown out a plane crash in a vain attempt at running a hairdryer

So that’s threads on A frames, grey water, gassing and now generators all going on at the same time.

All we need is for someone to start a poo thread and we’ll have the full set :D2

The Honda i20 is rather heavy. The i10 is more compact and good enough for most things, certainly recharging a battery but maybe not to run a microwave.

They aren't intended to be over the top. Generators are a regular topic on here so until you've been here for a while you might not get some of the references. (y)

You should be aware that in many places they are not permitted at all and almost everywhere else they are considered anti-social unless you think very carefully about what time of day you use it and equally importantly how long you run it for. Running it for 3 hours in the middle of the day will piss people off just as much as running it for 5 minutes at 7am.

That's why people are asking questions like what are you going to use it for. There are usually other (quieter) options.

They might be classed as anti social by some but more anti social is a woman with out her hairdryer hahha

Generator is Less anti social than barking dogs:mad:
We have an on board Dometic Tec 29 Petrol Generator (Came with the MH) always suited what we needed it for, cooking, lights, compressor etc. but we had hookup most the time.

So if generators are, what, anti social, what about converted delivery vans banging sliding doors during the night, dogs barking from motorhomes whilst owner is at the bar, kids screaming at the top of their voices for hours on end, people having a loud outdoor conversation on their mobiles, the list is extensive, it always seems to me that some campers expect from others far more courtesy than they are prepared to give.

I have a Clarke IG950 inverter generator (there is a Wolf & Screwfix version - same gennie, different colour - I chose Clarke as they have a reputation for good spares backup)
It is only 800W (just) and I use is at Classic motorcycle races/shows, just to top up the batteries (via Victron charger) after a couple of days of rain.

It is small, very lightweight, has an eco mode, which reduces revs (& noise) and is great for what I bought it for.

Obviously in the environment I use it in, generators are common & not frowned on. But I was interested to ask others about the noise. So I compared it to a 2.2Kw Honda generator being used by the van next to me, and general opinion was that the noise level was about the same (Honda one is way more powerful and probably better made!)

Whilst I know there are some who think that generators are the invention of the devil and these people will never change their minds - I am just suggesting that if you have arequirement for a gennie and 800W is enough, then the one I have is a good bit of kit for the money. Mine was £180 on special offer.

I will add that my MoHo has been designed around carrying motorcycles, no naked flames/gas, so carrying something with petrol in it is not a problem.

Link here:

Let the flaming begin - I can take it!!!

Hi, NickNic, thanks for your reply, i don't give a f**k how long I have been on this site/club, I was asking a general question and was hoping for a general response as we have a motor-home, not a block of flats but some of the smart-arsed comments were a waste of time. I call a dog barking all day anti-social not a silent generator running for a short time.

The problem is that there is no such thing as a silent petrol generator.
