Hi It should fail the mot as it is a failure for a motorhomeThere are no rules that say it should exit past the bodywork, ours and every other Iveco Daily chassis exits slap bang in the middle pointing down at the road, how far from it's previous position is yours now?
When I purchased a new exhaust for our Flair on the daily chassis the parts guy said that it should have extensions rather than just exit in the middle of the chassis as it was a motorhome, I asked a MOT tester and he said it was OK, every Concorde, PhoeniX, MORELO and N+B that is built on the IVECO Daily chassis has the exhaust exiting in the standard position in the middle of the chassis and I have not heard of one of these vans failing a MOT.Hi It should fail the mot as it is a failure for a motorhome
PeterCarole29 can you post a copy of the MOT guidance on that please?Hi It should fail the mot as it is a failure for a motorhome
Oh dear sounds like you are going to have to remove your black tank.I thought I would have a quick read of "construction and use regulations" under emissions I find,
Closets etc
62.—(1) No wheeled vehicle first used after 15th January 1931 shall be equipped with any closet or urinal which can discharge directly on to a road.
(2) Every tank into which a closet or urinal with which a vehicle is equipped empties, and every closet or urinal which does not empty into a tank, shall contain chemicals which are non-inflammable and non-irritant and provide an efficient germicide.
Isn't it amazing how any thread can quickly become a toilet thread
PS I found nothing about exhaust position
Looks like the slightly downward facing is still the rule.View attachment 784054Doesn’t look to bad to me now I’ve got underneath.
Next MOT next year and I will not be the owner then so won’t worry to much then
No ours doesn't have an electric valveOh dear sounds like you are going to have to remove your black tank.

I would guess being lhd and made abroad it doesnt comply with british regulation and yes its no problem untill you meet the garage i used. LOL But it would be interesting to actually know if he is correct ,i shall ask him where it is in his manualOn Carthago's the exhaust exits under the centre of the chassis so obviously not a problem.
RHD's are the same.I would guess being lhd and made abroad it doesnt comply with british regulation and yes its no problem untill you meet the garage i used. LOL But it would be interesting to actually know if he is correct ,i shall ask him where it is in his manual
Do motorhomes still have all those gas drop holes that our old caravan had, if yes then I could understand not having the exhaust underneath, our van is totally sealed against anything entering from below so can not see a problem.I would have thought that because it’s a habitational vehicle, then the exhaust wouldn't be allowed to exit directly below the habitation area, in order to avoid fumes from rising and entering that area, but you live and learn.
Ah well mine has just passed it 2nd mot with under chassis exitHi It should fail the mot as it is a failure for a motorhome
Mine certainly does, I though it a legal requirement for any vehicle that uses gas.Do motorhomes still have all those gas drop holes that our old caravan had, if yes then I could understand not having the exhaust underneath, our van is totally sealed against anything entering from below so can not see a problem.
Yes one wherever there is a gas appliance.Do motorhomes still have all those gas drop holes that our old caravan had, if yes then I could understand not having the exhaust underneath, our van is totally sealed against anything entering from below so can not see a problem.
We certainly have drops into the underfloor area but after that I am not aware of any drops in the final lower floor to road levelYes one wherever there is a gas appliance.
