Mechanical Servicing for Ubiquitous Fiat Ducato Engine?

That's cheap.... Is that just the belt or a full belt and pulley kit?
I was told it was for the timing belt kit, which I presume (given their experience with the marque) would include tensioner etc. I will ask again before parting with the dosh - but I'm confident they know what they are doing.

Have to say it was a great experience at Taylors Garage :) Job done in great time, at the agreed price, with some extra technical advice thrown in for free. It was the full timing belt kit, including tensioner. I will be visiting them again! Close by there is a large garden centre and also a massive motorhome dealer (I think it was previously the Hymer dealer who originally supplied our van), which means even a three hour wait just flew by. Recommended!

Take a trip to Dave Newells in Telford, I don't use any body else, there is a campsite over the road and a pub a few hundred yards away that allows overnighting I am told. We had our cambelt done there on our PVC, cruise control fitted, serviced, it is a fairly modern PVC but I am sure that he can accommodate larger vehicles.

We got a free ticket to Blists Hill village as well, worth the trip down to Telford.

Just out of curiosity, How much did it cost? I had mine done locally in January and am not too impressed with them now but that's another story

In 2017 full mechanical service £246.58 which included 5% funsters discount.

May this year it was £259.51 forgot about funsters discount and did not include fuel filter, I don't know how this compares but i prefer somebody that knows these vehicles and especially the fuel filter on my model.

I need to get the Cambelt done on my '93 Fiat Ducato based B544 as no record of a change in the invoice pack we got when purchased a couple of months ago and am struggling to find a garage that will take it on so looking for help please.

My normal guy has done a service but didn't want to do the Cambelt as he hasn't done one before. Dave Newell at LVS has said "no" as he doesn't have (and can't get) the correct tensioner for that age vehicle.

Can anyone advise on who has done theirs / could do mine?

I'm in Suffolk so over this way would be ideal but if necessary I'll have to travel as want to get it done - just in case.

Thanks

You might want to make contact with a couple of the early posters on this thread (4 & 7 I think) who are based down your way ;)

Good luck!

I'm in Blackburn, Lancashire. I've emailed a group called Walton Summit who seem to do commercial vehicles and aren't too far away, but nobody else seems to have a clue ! I don't wish to pay main dealer prices for labour, as this seems unreasonable when my local garage rates are less than a third of what a dealer would charge (even excluding VAT!)

If you have used your local garage for 30 years you should ask them to do the job outside on a dry day. That what my local garage do with the majority of motorhomes.
Not unreasonable as you are such a loyal customer

Never even crossed my tiny mind! Then again, they are generally very busy and don't really specialise in anything commercially based like the Ducato. I use them for everything else.

I use local truck dealer, they service coaches and buses as well as their own lorries. Never had a problem and they are used to working with tight access to engines. Also do my MOT.

Another datapoint:

Full Fiat service at 27000 miles, 6 years, Hymer A-Class. Cambelt kit fitted. MoT. New wiper blades (3 off). Habitation service. No problems found. £920.

Inchmichael Garage between Perth and Dundee.

They checked the water pump but did not replace. They say they have never seen a water pump fail on a 2.3 Fiat. Replacement apparently is a bigger job as it is co-located in a housing with the fuel pump.

Cheers...from a murky Scotland.
