Of course, and this type of promo is cheap and it invariably uses excess stocks, left overs re invented into "plat de jour"

My local pub did a popular 'Dustbin omelette on Mondays with the kitchen left-overs from Sunday lunch.

A good friend/ customer of mine was a large advertiser in the local paper. He was always crazy busy & whenever the rep came round offering him lunch etc he always said the same thing, No thanks I can afford to buy my own but I dare say if I couldn’t you wouldn’t be offering.

China Garden, Benidorm, special menu is €6.99 for 3 courses & half bottle of wine. The food is spot on and the restaurant is packed every night. Been there years so small margins can work if the place is busy

Slightly off topic but related is. Why is it you don't see some people all year round in the local pub but they expect it to be open for them on nights like Christmas Eve and New Years Eve when they do fancy a pint or two.
If us stalwarts didn't frequent the pubs on a regular basis they would soon close. I also find that these people are usually the loudest and most obnoxious ones in the pub on their chosen evenings.

My working from home son happened to mentioned this week that he'd been to a pub in central Brighton to meet a couple of work chums for a Christmas drink and the beer was £6.25 a pint.
(My two nieces get tanked up at home with friends on Prosecco before they go out for the evening).
I'm out of touch with prices as I don't drink beer and haven't had any need or desire to go into a pub for at least 15 years.

I second that, we've returned there because the food is excellent and the service outstanding, if it was just cheap but nothing else going for it it wouldn't be so popular. The owner clearly knows her stuff.

Of course there are always going to be those whose bragging right is to declare how much they paid for a meal and then clang the name of it for good measure!
