Hi all I have just purchased a Maxxfan fitting it myself and I am not sure which adhesive to use can someone who has fitted one of these fans recommend an adhesive
thanks

If I was fitting one it would be non setting sealant and no screws or not fit it, why wouldn’t that work?
I’ve put large rooflights in with just non setting sealant, probably a lot heavier than the maxxfan.
Personally I don't think I'd trust a max fan with no screws . They fit completely differently from a heki style vent . There's no sandwich effect with a max fan, the size of the dome and the fact the fan operation is bound to cause vibration and slight movement I think it needs screwed aswell as mastic.

Not a fan of holes in the roof myself but there's a reason they come with screw holes.

Couldn't quite work out how he did those strips, but applaud doing it that way. I've seen cheaper Fiamma skylights that have loads of screws around the top flange like these Maxair's have and it's messy and asking for leaks. So many holes and not necessary when clamp mounts work better. A bit surprised they use that method (screws).
Can't see the point of the strips if there was enough force to lift the vent from the adhesive the thin ABS sides the strips are mounted to would just shatter.
I will be fitting one the the new van I will just use a good quality sealant/adhesive, no screws. My sat dish is still on the roof after 5 years only stuck on with Sika 292i.

The dome is only held on with 4 self tappers into spire clips on the thin ABS sides, any problems they would be the first to give way the plastic would split without much force on it. Really don't see the need for screws providing a decent selant/adhesive is used. You would only need screws if you use a buytal mastic.

It is a very wide flange in contact with the roof and only a small thing to catch wind/air flow, so would be fine with just adhesive you'd think. Unlike a solar panel, which is big with small feet.

All fitted easier than I thought has anybody managed to adapted the original blind to fit.
I am going to try and use the original blind when I fit mine...

Just 3d printed a replacement manual winding knob to stop the blind hitting the original one.

Clever stuff...I decided to go blind less...delighted with the Maxxfan...very efficient and is going to be very useful next summer...

Sorry if I've missed any updates Lenny but did you get around to fitting this and if so, did you just use Sika?

I'm about to fit mine but really reluctant to drill 16 holes in the roof. It seems belt, braces (and bicycle clips) :giggle:
