Hi , stuck on a site in Bunree nr Fort William . Got onto site and tried putting the satellite up …. It span around as normal for a while but didn’t pick up a signal , then it died ! To add to our problems we smelt an ‘eggy’ smell and were advised it was our leisure battery. So we called out a local guy who replaced the leisure battery (£300 !!) , so that’s bit fine but satellite still up . I’ve tried replacing the little fuse ( 4amp ) with spares I had …. First of all a light did come on on Maxview seeker wireless box thingy but then nothing again !
So in a bit of a dilemma 🙄
Can’t seem to call out anyone as it’s Easter weekend ( even if I could find someone local who’s knows what’s what ) and obvs can’t drive anywhere with a dish stuck in the air .
I’m a technophobe and pretty much useless and only had our first motorhome 4 months .
Any advice very much appreciated

Hi 👋 there,
This happened to me on my Oyster 85 system when I was abroad, so I phoned the experts Jacksons satellites, and he told me to do the same as rb62 said, i.e. loosen the two bolts at the bottom of the arms and close the dish manually, then retighten the bolts, don't overtighten, and next time you put the dish up it should be all ok again 👍 hope this helps you.
I could be 100% wrong if the Oyster works differently to other systems but I am not quite sure that is correct. If the dish gets stuck "up" the motors and controller will think it is still "up" when the motors free or power gets re-applied etc, If the dish has been manually put down by hand once powered the motors will then try and drive the dish into the roof as it still thinks it is up. Maxview motors defiantly have encoders in them that counts the pulses / revolutions so the motors / controller knows where the dish is and so it can go back to the last know position when looking for a satellite.
If the Maxview controller is turned off or looses power the first thing it does when powering back up is to close the dish down in the park position so it knows where to start from.
As I typed in the earlier response removing the dish face, feed arm and support bracket is a 10-15min easy job that a lay person can do if a ladder can be obtained and is much easier than removing the whole dish base. The dish face should always be removed before the motor unit, it is a big handful (and sail) if it is stuck in the up position and holding the dish whilst disconnecting the lnb feeds and motor connections could be a challenge for the inexperienced and damage could occur, to the dish and or the van.

Which is why I put 'make sure you slacken the bolts before trying the dish again'! If you power it up with the bolts slackened it will fail to find a signal and park up in the correct position, you can then tighten the bolts 👍

Really in a dilemma now 🙁
Caravan & motorhome home site here can’t / won’t lend us a ladder/ tools to attempt to loosen bolts to lower satellite dish…. Health and bloody safety. No mobile engineers anywhere near here can help . Maxview office still closed .
Totally flucked

Where are you?

Maybe someone local can lend you a ladder, or someone on site?

Have you asked the site owners if they know a mobile mechanic, it doesn't sound as though you even need a specialist just to remove/lower the dish ?

Yep , no help . Called every satellite/ auto electrician etc within 100 miles I think !
Bit pee’d off with Maxview offices as over the weekend their phone number said it was closed over Easter weekend but opened 8.30am Tuesday….. called first thing and message now says opens at 1pm 🙄

Have you contacted Maxview?

I have the same system so does the main controller power up?

Plenty of information in the manual they will help to diagnose the issue or at least find the problem.

Multimeter comes in handy.

Update !
Sorted ….. of sorts 😃
Called Adrian Flux and explained problem , they sent out a recovery guy ( lovely chap). He reversed his flat bed next to side of Moho so he could stand on it to get to dish , unconnected bolts but had to snip couple of wires to get dish fully off Moho .
Dish now in garage .
Thanks to everyone for suggestions of how to solve problem etc . Now onto the Trossachs !!
