Has anyone replaced there sky light with a maxfan ?

Yep. Replaced a Mini-Heki with the MaxxFan Deluxe. Straight swap (apart from adding a wire).

It's to see if it will fit existing skylight with no cutting , and somewhere I read that the Adria,s were pre-wired for roof fans , so was hoping someone on here had undertaken this task to see how it went

If you identify the existing sky light we should be able to tell you if the fan will fit. Mine was straight remove and fit the maxxfan. No extra cutting etc required. Given that most skylights are a common component for all motorhomes you may be in luck. (just checked ours was a mini heki delux 400 x 400 roof hole)

If you go ahead there is an article, I think I posted a link to it, taking one though the installation without the need for screwing on to the roof which I was not happy with.

I'll measure it and see if there's any identification on it , I'm sure I read somewhere that the Adria motorhomes had been pre wired for a roof fan this would save running a cable to it

Most small rooflights are 400 x 400 - I'd be surprised if yours is different. If you remove the inner frame the size & whether it's pre-wired should be visible.

I know this is an ancient thread, but just a quick thanks for this video. I've been looking to put a heki roof light in my van's forthcoming new roof, but now I'm thinking the MaxxFan would be a better choice. My only concern is how much it stands proud of the roof.

My concern is how do you get wiring to it without trunking across the roof

Presumably the same way as the supplying company gets wires to the lights which are installed in the roof?

Mine are under the bedroom cupboards, nothing in the roof!

I used a long piece of studding , ground the end to a cutting shape and used it to cut through the insulation, shortest route to a roof light, took longer to do than fitting the Maxxfan,
But all perfectly doable, I now have one at each end of the Motorhome for maximum efficiency,

The Adria Twin is pre wired for mains air con unit so it’s easy. Check if it’s a factory option for your van, if it is you could find wires already there.

That’s only if you open them to gain maximum ventilation, they will still function closed, how many skylights can you leave open in the rain without getting the interior wet?
Well you can with the Maxxfan and also have it open automatically to your preset temperature,

Threaded bar.
A long piece of metal that has thread along its complete length. You can get it in the standard bolt/thread sizes. mate/M10 etc.

New roof is strongly likely. I’ve just had a quote. Existing roof is a good make and works fine but I’m reaching the point where practical day to day use without having to mess about with the roof (esp as I use my van year round) is beginning to defeat the better aesthetics that the pop top gives.
