I just learned today the terribly sad news that Mavis died at the end of November. What a lady she was. Given three months to live in 2009, she fought Mesothelioma and fought for others who had it. What a difference she made. She became a hero to me and so many others.

One of the original Funsters She used to attend a lot of rallies but the last ten years of her life every ounce of her energy was taken up by helping others with charity work, inspiring others and running her foundation

Here is Mavis on the left, giving my wife,Siân a cuddle - almost 5 years after being given 3 months to live. What a warrior.

Our most sincere sympathies go out to Ray, Mavis’s devoted husband. RIP Mavis.

Sounds like an incredible lady, RIP. Our condolences to the family.

Although I didn't meet her we chatted from time to time on MHFacts.

A truly inspirational lady.

RIP Mavis and condolences to Ray and family.

Asbestos was used everywhere,my dad a plumber said they painted boiler rooms with it, as a young apprentice bricklayer we were cutting sheets of it with a electric saw, the foreman came over and warned us it was dangerous, no safety advice. I read about the lady on her foundation page, appears to have improved many people's understanding of the issue.

My thoughts have been with Raymond. Not spoken to either of them in a year or so. She was a lovely lady.

Sad news of a lovely lady. We talked about asbestosis in the shipyards back in the facts days, she and Ray were very understanding when it took my dad and my fears from seeing him every day covered in white dust. RIP Mavis.

Brother passed with the same horrible thing.
Never knew or saw any of Mavisis posts but RIP Mavis you were obviously a diamond 💐

I now remember Mavis's postings from way back when - and by that, then instantly remembered having it graphically described to me - and other Notifiable Diseases - with no holds barred when I was in my first job after leaving school aged 16 (Civil Servant dealing with Sickness Benefit claims) and asking someone what 'that' was all about and who was likely to get it, since I'd never heard it mentioned before, like I had pneumoconiosis and silicosis and also anthrax - in the industrial West Midlands.

RIP indeed.

RIP Mavis courageous lady.

We met Mavis and Ray in our early year of joining Fun she was such an inspiration and so dedicated to making everyone she touched aware of what had happened to her and what she was doing about it . It wasn't until several years later Bill was needing her help and expertise which got us through a very difficult time and prepared us to what to do and ask for from medical professionals and for what may occur in the future for Bill . I thank her from the bottom of my heart for being there for us at that time .

Our sincere condolences to Ray and family she was a fighter through and through and she will be greatly missed by all that knew her . 💔💔💔
