Eddie

We had an apartment this Christmas which had the added advantage of a specialist shop that did home-cooked takeaways cooked fresh every day for locals, of which Basia thoroughly approved, so when we were not at the fish restaurants we ate very well without her cooking - as you say you need better than hotel food.

I am told they are quite common in Spain.

Thanks for the heads up……travelling to Lanzarote on Thursday so assume I’ll need masks on the transfer bus? Maybe inside airport terminal too? No mention of requirements by the travel company!
We came back from there 0n the 29th and we were never asked to wear a mask anywhere from getting on the plane at East Midlands to getting off there. We were staying in Playa Blanca in a hotel.

Thanks for this. Very timely as we fly out on Friday with 24 kids. This is the link to the official rules. We’ll add it to our parents info evening on Wednesday.

I wouldn't go overboard getting them as carrefours sell 10for 99c & you can get boxes of 20 or 50 depending on type for 3 or 4 €'s

The only time I wear one is for my hospital visits I'm fully vaccinated, Janie still wears one in supermarkets and some other places if it's busy, but she has not had the latest vaccine yet. 😁 Bob.

What a wonderful location for an Aire at Bilbao, even in the rain, and even for €15.

We took the bus down to town and were a bit embarrased as everyone was wearing a mask - we had plenty in the van but never gave it a thought.

When it was time to return, the bus arrived and the driver refused to let us on because we had no masks. He claimed it would be a €6000 fine and no bus driver or taxi would take us back to the Aire.

Being a Sunday afternoon virtually everywhere was shut. The one duty pharmacist in Bilbao was nowhere near us. We called into the nearest open places to beg/buy masks. We drew a blank at nearby hotels and shops. Even an ambulance claimed to not have any!

In despair we retreated to a pub. A customer offered us two masks in exchange for a coffee.

Our fault, obviously, but saved by a kind resident. Be warned!
We had the same view of Bilbao last February, it’s a fabulous site and we thought Bilbao was well worth the visit, probably often overlooked as people don’t think of going there.

100% agree, enjoyed a trip on the metro to the impressive transporter bridge

Easy done, have about different 3 coats I wear and I keep a mask and hand-gel in each one also carry a mask in my wallet
Mrs CC got caught out last week when she came to the hospital with me so luckily I had a spare.

When we were in Austria last year we went on the bus wearing mask as it was compulsory but more people on there wearing nothing☹️☹️
Seems some countries enforce it more than others

The rules state face coverings as opposed to masks, so is it reasonable to assume home made ones are ok?
