Marjal...Hi Funsters.....

I was of the opinion that for a short while Mel and another funster were talking about a campsite in La Manga (this is a popular one with folk that over winter - and they do seem to park you within the same area your countryfolk are parked in eg brits in one part ,germans in another,Dutch another and so on) which the other funster was staying on at present before moving to Majal, and that is where some confusion has crept in eg 'dire' one day 'brilliant' the next, so i think some of the comments made were not about majal

Correct Maggie...yes La Manga was the site...we did not like it ..This site is new and needs to develop....as Maggie knows campsites is not my scene......

I would never visit sites like this in my normal life either but for a week's holiday hanging out with friends in sunny weather I make an exception...
JJ

Wipes a little tear from the corner of my eye.

"No it's nothing dear, speck of dust got in my eye".

We were thinking of a month at least there next winter JJ.

Be OK next winter Ken... all the tree`s and shrubs would have grown and I should imagine it will be like the old site....

Well Established...:thumb:

Rome wasn`t built in a day.. :Wink::BigGrin:

Hi

We are also at Marjal, just had a coffee with John and Judy and also met Heyupluv, going to meet up later on in the bar :thumb:

This is our 3rd Winter Snowbirding in Spain, and each time has been very different.

We do a mix of C&C Club Rallies and spending time on our own on at a wide range of campsites, which suits us perfectly.

Re Marjal, our thoughts, so far (and we've only been here since yesterday, and are leaving on Friday):

Good sized pitches, easy to get on and off.
Excellent shower facilities
Excellent washing and tumble drying facilities
Good prices at the Bar
Musak is playing in the Plaza areas, but certainly not obvious where we are pitched.
Free WiFi, which in general is good
Able to access some UK channels from the cable on our pitch
Site shop not particularly well stocked with fresh produce or meat, but it's early days, and we are sure Raimon has this in hand

It is a brand new site, but a lot of thought and effort has gone in to it, and I think it would be unrealistic to expect Nirvana - we've not found that anyway yet - and compromise is often the case. Raimon is very receptive to comments, and I'm sure that all will be done to improve where necessary. Also, if anyone feels unhappy on any site, you can always pack up and move on

Personally, we like the site and will be back again next year.

Regards

Pete and Di

Thanks Pete could not agree more. The only thing that is letting us down is the shopping. We are having to take the van out tomorrow to get supplies in from a local Alid. No great problem for a van conversion but a large motorhome might have problems. If you are still reading these Raimon please have a look into the supermarket lack of sustenance. Particularly fresh produce. Don't anyone be put off by small problems. It is a new site and problems will get ironed out.

Hi, Site shop not particularly well stocked with fresh produce or meat, but it's early days, and we are sure Raimon has this in hand

I wish I was "the man to have that in hand" lol Supermarket is stocked by a chain of supermarkets called Coviran (very popular in Andalucia) so prices are normal Spanish supermarket prices, which I think is good compared to other sites but I will tell the management you are finding it short of stock.

Raimon is very receptive to comments, and I'm sure that all will be done to improve where necessary.

A bigger supermarket is to be probably built in a year or two, and the current supermarket will be turnt into a newsagents-bakery-takeaway-open 24/7 (or something similar)

Cheers (& maybe see you around the site)

Raimon

Zahora...The site favoured by many Brits has a Coviran on site ! They can tell you what the Brits are buying ! I was there for a month recently and they are well stocked ! The only shortfall that I noticed was no Lamb and no custard powder ...no beef either ! there was another wee shop in the village that did have beef so I used both according to my wants !!

Rally discount ??

hi funsters, happy new year (a bit late though) i have been working on other marjal areas these last days and i wasn´t able to read the forum, but i have now just finished reading all the thread and i will tell the site´s management some of the concerns you have pointed out.

As we are a young site, it is all that things you point out that help us improve. So please keep raising the issues you encounter.

Regarding the weather, i can say as a local, that we have had one of the warmest winters i remember, reaching 26º some days (which is insane for this time of the year) yesterday night it rained and it was windy, today we have the rain again, but i do hope you can enjoy a wonderful weather for the time of the rally.

pd: I, myself don't like the canned music

cheers

raimon

hi raimon ( or anyone who can help)

i have only just joined motorhome fun and am thinking of attending the rally etc but there is some confusion about
discounts for funster members etc.

If i was to book a luxe pitch for over 61 days from approx middle february to end april what would be the price and the discount please ????

Also how do i go about booking it and what do i need to prove to get the discount ???

Regards
david

If and only if, you are a good boy, I will cook you and the Princess a proper Steak Pie and Chips such as I cooked for her a couple of years ago ! Her lovely finicky daughter (foodwise) had 3 helpings !!!!:Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:

I didnt do french at school, I did canoe from Lyon to the med, took a week to canoe down the rhone.

Anyway my question is.....you say her "Finicky daughter" were in France is that?

I have read with interest what Raimon from that new Marmite site writes.
Is he a funster??? He writes like a funster. He thinks like a funster.

Can I elect him as an honorary funster.

He seems a nice guy. His english is better than mine.

I did german at school in the 60s the reason being I guess was to prepare us for the 3rd battle with germany as we have one every 25 yrs. In case we lost we would all be fluent in german I suppose.

I realised thus was an error and in 1971 I began to study spanish........or Espanieeol as we fluents say. I even took night class for 5 years so I could covertly blend into any spanish community with a slight adaption for South American spanish ie latin american.

I am proud to say after all my studies I can now order a sowester (beer)
and a queso eeeeee hamon die york bocadear (cheese and ham sandwich) however that turns out as an egg and ham sandwich sometimes as I forget which is which.

I can also say in spanish..."the lead in my pencil is broken" and also "..senureeta whoppa.."... Im not sure why the ladies like being called whoppa as that mean a supersize in Macdonalds.. but mine is not to reason why mine is to eat all the big pies.

So soon and may I say finally at last I hope to be on the road to the Marmite sites and hopefully chat away to Raimon in spanish for a while before I inform him I am actually English.

I do run spanish classes for anyone interested...the first lesson is entitled

'How to speak English really really slowly and loudly with a Spanish accent if a Spaniard doesnt understand what you are saying'

The second lesson is entitled

'How to point at things and indicate with fingers or impressions of things you want to do in Spain'

The third lesson is entitled

'How to order a beer and a ham and cheese sandwich'

the course is 3 lessons long and in total lasts for about 10 minutes.

glad to help
peace and love

Hi David and welcome to Motorhome Fun, if I were you have a look on the side bar and there is usually a Ad for Magal if you click on it fill it in and write all your questions on the comment box would be probably the best way to get the information you want, also that is what we all have to do to book in. good luck with it and again welcome aboard.:welcomefunster:

Just relised that you have posted on this general thread, if you look at the top of the page where it says forums drop it down until it says rallies, look for Margal then you will find the list about booking. (someone cleverer than me may be able to put a click here link)

Im rambling and in a reflective mood so ignore this if ya want.
what the heck Ill start a new thread entitled

what I love about spain.

Im a little concerned at how close that caravan is to you....I didnt realise it was a cramped site...ask them to move so you can get another shot with just you.

HarryO2....... There are three sizes.. Comfort 90-95 m2..........Premium 96-130 m2........Luxe 131-180 m2....The caravan you mentioned has now been removed for you:Rofl1::Rofl1:.....the Royal Suite pitch 2 acres has been booked for the meet... by..... and rightly so.... the Prince & Princess...JJ & Frankie
The comfort pitch is big enough for most people

oo oo i wanna sign up for this too..even if only to say a cheese and pickle sandwich would be good

This information that had been requested By Prince JJ...Where will the funster's be parked on Marjal site....This information was not easy to get, my wife said, as you are all booked under different names and dates .... also there are other clubs on at the same time.....So we had to grease a few Palms....sorry about the pun....I will book it down on the funsters expenses bill with my bar bill last night to find out drink prices  take note Jim it is all in a good cause:RollEyes:

The drinks I will put it in Spanish for harryO2
2....Tinto ded la Casa.......(Red wine)....1.60 Euros each........3.20
1....Blanco de la casa.......(white wine)..1.60 Euros. each........1.60
1 ...Coca Cola........................................1.60 Euros. each.........1.60
1 ...Carlsberg..(pinta).............................3.00.Euros each.........3.00
1....Tercio Sin...(0% alcohol).................2.10 Euros each.........2.10
The grand Total of drinks 11.60 Euros + the greasy Palms...all in a good cause spent on funsters

(Now these same drinks in France would have been double the cost… that we know…I bet you are glad Jim we are in Spain not France )

The 0% beer that was mine as I needed to keep a clear head ….when paying for other funster's beer, just thinking of the expense bill Jim,… making sure there was no tabs behind the bar:Wink::Wink:

The Funster pitches will be on “C” block…the top part of “C” block as you enter campsite…a good spot not to far down… …as you pass the Gate House/Security building/Gun tower …down to first round about, turn left and you are on your right… not far from the toilet block.

An other bit of information ….for you Ladies…..and of course the Prince and Princess….the shower tiled floors are heated…so your tootsies will be warm….Mmmm WHAT I do for the Funsters…..No I was not in the ladies part, it is the same in the men's
Shop on site is not at all well stocked…outside shops..1 about 2km …or a Lidl,Aldi, Dia around 18 km.
The bar seating area is not that big unless they can open another part, GET there early…you have been warned…
While we have been at Marjal the site has only about a quarter full,

Another piece of information….we was on “A” block….closer to the motorway (than the funsters patch), we arrived late Friday afternoon … a Frenchman came to talk to me (me being on French plates) and said you will get traffic noise on your pitch from the motorway…..Well Saturday,Sunday,Monday (a Spanish holiday I think) ..No problem quite….but Tuesday and Wednesday traffic back to normal yes we did get some road noise….

To add further information to what Mel has just said. We took the van out and went to Elche where there is a very large Carrefour. About a 20 minute easy drive and accessible in a coachbuilt motorhome. The parking in front of Carrefour is height barrier restricted but the unoccupied shop next door is not and parking is easy.
While there I filled up with diesel and the attendant told me to leave the wrong way, against the traffic as the exit road was too narrow. Not for the faint hearted but "when in Rome etc." do what the locals tell you even if you have to go back to a roundabout the wrong way.
The music came back this morning at the shower block, I think it is one of the cleaners likes listening to the Carpenters. Only on while she cleaned the block and then silence.
John

ps. Missing Bruce already.

Just wondering if any one has the co ordinates for Marjal as I don't seem to be able to find them, thanks

Waste Pipe , TV cable and Wifi

Having swung from 'right,we'll cancel' to 'don't sound too bad ' in about 20 mins- I have a couple of Q's for those there.

1.Roughly how much grey waste pipe would it need to reach waste point-I realise it depends on how close you park !

2.Same for TV cable-roughly how much.

3.Free Wifi-is that on the pitch,or does one have to troll over to a room that never has enough leccy points for everyone.

Mike.

Mike....it depends where you park on your allotted pitch:Doh:.. meaning if you back in to your pitch or if you go in forwards or if you go sideways depending on the sun and your neighbours door UK or European ..in one corner of 4 pitches there is a concrete block....in that block is 4 TV sockets 4 water taps each with the tap garden snap connection on the tap..and 4 waste outlets around 100mm with a screw cap on..
now them 4 pitches you park two from one road and two from the next road down....so the best thing is to go out into your garden and measure 10m x 9m and in one corner think that is were all the services are .....were will I park and then measure the length you will need of pipe and coax and fill pipe for fresh water

I had a 20m coax and that was more than enough...depending how it enters your van but should be enough on a 90sqm pitch.....your waste !! who knows only you....but if it is a problem a flexy bendi bucket then pour it down the hole ..that is if your waste is on the outside of your van......

Now for the motorhomes that have the waste pipe underneath the van and can not connect..(like my other motorhome) don't worry.....just go out passed the gate house...turn left into the car park and go to the back left hand corner..at the back of the tennis courts..three new concrete bases....with drop off grids and a tap to wash you van if required...simple

When we arrived in Spain around 4 weeks ago the diesel was 1.30 euros......now in the last week it has gone up to 1.40 1,42....for the cheaper diesel...to 1.45, 1.47 for the diesel plus...has the diesel gone up in the uk the same:Eeek::Doh:

Carol....it is not a problem two ways in..once you have turned off the motorway ..if you are tavelling on the AP7 from south to north exit 730 and follow the camping signs...you will see the tall MARJAL sign from the motorway on your left...take the turning over the bridge and follow the new road and camp sings in....if you are traveling from north to south as see the sign on your right take the next junction just passed it and follow the camping signs..
THESE ARE THE CORDS OUT OF THE ACSI THAT WE FOLLOWED N38 10.44' WOOO 48.30'
Once you turn off the AP7 follow the campsigns not the sat nav for about 1 km on a new road
