Magic Roundabout (Spanish driving regs)

I always follow the 'racing line' but have to watch out for a Verstappen wannabe. Roundabouts abroad seem to operate on the Anglican Book of Common Prayer - "the quick and the dead"

I wonder how Spanish and French drivers abroad adapt to the ‘Dutch’ roundabouts both there and in the Scandinavian countries - where cyclists circumnavigating the system have priority at the exits? Must be mind blowing for them!

Not that the drivers in Cambridge are much better and they don’t even have the two way cycle traffic to contend with!

Very poorly:ROFLMAO: been there, done that...
But you have to agree with me that those are designed by evil people...

What are all these white lines on roundabouts, all the ones around here wore off after the first couple of weeks and never reappeared

Yes, there must be some sadists in those traffic management departments.

First time we cycled around one near Copenhagen city centre my wife, in front, caused all kinds of snarl ups of both motorised and pedal powered transport as she kept on stopping at the junctions! The drivers were mostly cool about it, the Lycra Thugs not so much,

Just a little reminder folks..just need to get the other 90% of Drivers to understand this..regulation..
Doesn't apply to Portugal..View attachment 985138
Spaniards have no clue how to use a roundabout, they are also not the best drivers, but not as bad as the Portuguese (at least in Madeira).

If you read the section on roundabouts in their equivalent of the Highway Code, you wouldn't be too sure either. It's clear as lodo.

It is the complete lack of indicators that does me in.
I even sit & watch driving school cars on roundabouts & you only can guess where they are going as they always sit in the right hand lane even on 2 & 3 lane roundabouts .The indicator only comes on after they have started to exit.
I always want to drag the instructor out & slap them but Jac stops me.
Not even the Police use indicators in the Canaries....

Driving in Spain, I didn't find roundabouts too hard... once I was confident about the outside exit rule. Then I accidentally ended up driving this in rush hour...
Valencia, Valencian Community

A few in Madrid and Barcelona were nearly as bad. I think I was just more experienced...

Never seen anything so ridiculous in all my life.

Reminds me of driving round & round a Portugese roundabout about 40 years ago ,in the middle of nowhere with no other traffic , whilst I worked out which of the 5 exits I wanted.Another vehicle came down a road & started blaring his horn.? No idea what he was doing until I remembered that traffic ENTERING the roundabout had priority over anyone on the roundabout.& he was expecting me to stop:rofl::doh:

Sure they have changed it now

Wasn't that the default for many years in France? Like the priorité à droit rule, it caused chaos for years after the change.

A lot of towns have reinstated give way to the right to traffic down.
