I haven’t organised a rally / meet before so please be kind , not sure if it’s a rally or a meet or even what the difference is
We discovered Lyndon Top before lockdown and arrived to the most amazing sunset on what had been a difficult period with my mum
For those that don’t know us, this is us my first wife Bev still comes away with me most trips
Lyndon Top is a large campsite with no facilities other than water taps and black waste dumps, they do collect rubbish and have limited recycling
We could simply all book a place that weekend and chose our own location , knowing other members are also going to be there, or we can be allocated an area of the site just for us. I prefer the group camping together option
I don’t think they offer any discount off the standard £15 / night and presume we will all make our own booking and then just park up together in the rally field, one of the things I need to find out
I know a lot of us are retired now and might want to extend to three or four or maybe more nights , the area for sole use will be available Thursday 10th to Monday 14th. August this year
Arrival / departure times are very generous, you can turn up from 09.00 on arrival day, leave up to 19.00 on departure day. I will ask if the same area can be used by anybody wanting even longer on site
The site has limited space where you can see over the water, a lower field is good for this but on quite a slope, not available for rallies, neither is the area of the main site that has a limited view of the water , both areas are very popular and get quite crowded
For now I would just like to get a feel for possible numbers wishing to attend that weekend
I intend to research possible food delivery to site if that might be if interest please say so and will be thinking of a possible ‘event’ for the weekend which will be very casual , possibly boules and or frisbee challenge in some form
Presuming I have started this thread in the right place I think I should be able to create a list of those expressing an interest here at top of the thread
I haven’t checked for minimum / maximum numbers needed for sole use of the rally area, but would suggest if less than 20 units are interested that we would just book independently and park near to other members if you wish to, but in general camping
Interested so far
