Thank you. Very strange though. Surely both the council and Lakeland Estates have records of how long the site has had a licence don't they?
No answer after a week @Lyndon Top Caravan Park
Does that mean the site has been operating without a licence all these years?
In the absence of a response one can only assume that @Lyndon Top Caravan Park is not interested in providing the facts about whether the site has been properly licensed in the past. That then begs the question whether it has been operating legally or has just ignored the legal requirements.
Either way, how can the owners expect support if they are not prepared to be fully open with people?

Email sent, I can't imagine what the council are thinking of, we don't have enough sites like this even without power, hope they are successful in staying open

"what the council are thinking of" is perfectly clear from their responses shared by two members in earlier posts. They are investigating whether the site has been operating in breach of planning controls - i.e. whether the site has been operating illegally.

As rehearsed in many previous threads, the legislation which exists came about as a response to a real public health danger. That means it is in the public interest that the law be complied with. If Lyndon Top has been operating without a licence the owners have only themselves to blame if the site is closed as a result.

I am glad to report that Lyndon Top has won it's battle with the council and as of 6th Sept is now officially licenced for 634 units (y)

Yep great news, let’s just hope they give the place a bit of tlc now. The Elsan points are disgusting

In my experience the disposal points are fine, it’s people’s inability to wash them down after dumping that’s the problem!

Great to hear the licensing issue is sorted, it’s a great place and won’t seem anywhere near as full as a French Aire even with 634 onsite!

So pleased to hear this news. Fond memories of this site.

Great site, lovely views and great for bike riding round the lake, 17 miles, passing a few pubs

Done it many times, but never called into any of the pubs. Handy site for biking into Oakham where, on occasions, we may have a drink or two. Great site, have been going there for about ten years. Pleased they have got things sorted.

We have been using this site now for in excess of 21 years and the council have now suddenly decided that to be lawful, we must prove the last 10 years which will then put an end to the whole issue.
If Lyndon top have the necessary. Licence and permits its already legal.
As the council require proof of use it seems they HAVE been operating without a licence and the council have turned a blind eye up to now.

A local farmer in the Nth Yorks Moors national park converted outbuildings to holiday accommodation, ON THE INSIDE, without permission.
After 11 years he applied for retrospective planning with proof of use and won.
He then set to work on the outside.

I suspect there is more to this than meets the eye. Why would a campsite ask for visitors to contact Rutland Council to support it's continued existence ? Anyway, it would seem they had a good meeting with the Council as per the statement on their website.

To all of those who supported us in our challenge with Rutland Council to save Lyndon Top.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your time & effort and we are delighted to announce a very positive outcome was achieved.

We look forward to welcoming you to Lyndon Top for many years to come!!

Graham, GJH, may be able to confirm the law but it may be as in my post above regarding the farmer.
If the use over x number of years can be proved then consent cannot be refused if the legalities are met.

Rutland Council explained what it was doing, and why, in a number of published on its web site. The Planning Application Documents show that Lakeland Estates submitted an application on 28 May this year and that was subsequently approved on 6 September. The decision notice mentions "for a continuous period of 10 years".
The is useful in explaining the legal background.
