Lubricating slide out step

How can I lubricate the slide out step to keep it working smoothly

Best to use a silicone or teflon spray on the moving joints ... oil and grease will gather dirt and do more harm.

Good advice from Brian - I would get underneath and only lube the bits that visibly need it

I had a problem with my drivers door step, dealer fixed the fault but after a few weeks it got very juddery. Idoit had used lithium white grease, should never be used on plastic (guides are plastic).
I partly stripped mine down, cleaned up all the runners and used ordinary grease. Now works better than when it was new & has been fine for months. I found silicone waste of time.

Only two days ago; I finally got around to dismantling my step.. a straight forward affair.

The brass bushes had become stiff against the ferrous bits (good old rust)

A wire brush and some fine wet n’ dry soon freed them up.

However, after trying lubes mentioned above ( before it had to be finally dismantled ); they didn’t fair well against the daily road gunk.

On this occasion I have elected to use motorcycle “chain lube”.. ?

But my guess is; if you use your moho a lot - it will require reg maintenance if exposed like mine ??

I totally removed our double step while we were in Germany this year, the mate in Germany has a sort of waterproof fatty silicone spray grease, refurbed the whole step, never had the Hymer from new, but I imagine it’s now working better than new, perfect ?

WD40 on all moving parts. it works and doesn't accept soiling from dust grit etc.

It also gave me the opportunity to re-tension all the bolts, which made the step less rickety

Never ever use WD40 on a step or anything with nylon bushes quickest way to bu**er it.
WD40 makes nylon swell.

Works for me, never had a problem or caused one by using it.

do these have to be removed to lubricate them? mine juddering, I think there was a small stone in there somewhere, Ive jetted out with hose and want to oil it up, seems a bit faffy to remove to lubricate it
