LPG systems

There are already a few Flogas key sites around. You have to open an account with Flogas and they issue you with an electronic key. You simply insert your key, help yourself to lpg and the cost is charged to your account. I have a key account but have yet to use it.

Good question the very odd small garage was attendant served, but if your pumping £100 + worth of diesel it possibly makes it viable, when asked the comment was often that LPG purchasers / chasers seemed scared to pump their own perhaps first time hire van drivers ? we did see a few new credit card payment, self service fuel pumps were / being installed in relative remote areas.

If sites install a pay at pump system for LPG and users learn how to connect, fill and disconnect rather than an attendant having to down tools and pump for a £5 top up then there is a small profit in in for the supplier, Obviously a big investment but could pay back ok.
Flogas depot is self service, as is Morrisons, so why not?

Only once had someone come to serve LPG at a garage in Wales. It turns out that they wanted to pick out brains and have a look inside the van as they were going to convert a PVC for their own use. Instead of taking 5 minutes to fill up we were there almost an hour :)

Helen

Was there a big queue for the LPG pump?

What did you charge for one hour's consultancy? :giggle:

No one else waiting at all - not at LPG pump nor the "normal" pumps. The workshop was busy but we didn't impact on their work.

They put us onto an interesting place to visit:

My storage place is owned by a chap who also has a gas supply business, bulk and cylinders. He said he could probably fill up my motorhome directly from a tanker. Don't know if it would need some odd adapter and not likely to actually need to.

As a current lpg bulk delivery driver I think this would be highly unlikely. If only from the point of connection being totally different also the tanker pumping at 150 litres per min.

good luck with that

I wasn't thinking of trying it, just that he'd offered.
Probably totally impractical.

I can’t see any leisure businesses going to the expense of a self service, I would hate to think what the idiot’s would try and fill ⚠️
A guy actually asked on a forum tye other day if he could fill a petrol can with LPG

Why on earth would a Gaslow fitter talk himself out of a job?
I know! Sounds completely moronic!
The advantage with a motorhome is that it has wheels and an engine. So if there is no LPG where you are you can use the wheels and engine to just find some when you are travelling. We just fill up everytime we spot a place that sells it. We also use two apps, FillLPG for the UK and myLPG.eu for Europe. Never had any problems finding it on our UK and European travels.

This is the key. I was the same when considering a gaslow system about 18 months ago, "oh no, there's nowhere local to fill it up" But of course you just fill up on the way to your destination! or on the way back! or when you happen to see one! I felt so stupid having that pointed out to me.
Fitted a single gaslow and kept a 6kg too as back up, but a year later and never had to use the 6kg calor so have just recently fitted a second gaslow and couldn't be happier! My top tips are use Basildog as he and his team have been brilliant to deal with plus funster discount and the other tip is to have a set of the brass adaptors too for your travels. Ive had mine for ages and only had to use one once but got me my gas and made it worthwhile.

I have never had an attendant down tools and come out to fill my gas.!!!!
Always self service!!
At Autogas 2000 we are attendant service , most of the Leisure industry suppliers will be attendant service .

Ah just like the good old days then..... do you "check oil and clean windscreen" as well..🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
No seriously.. as long as the pumps still there I personally am happy to DIY but I also accept the need for suppliers to ensure the safety of their equipment and premises...
Wish we had an outlet like yours here abouts.👍👍

For anyone going to the NEC show. Corley services north bound definitely have LPG pumps and as of this morning they are full ;)

Just filled up my two 6kg gaslow bottles today at a local Morrisons, Killingworth. No problems and easy enough to do it. The lady on the tills was very helpful.

The filler is inside the gas locker so was a little apprehensive as to whether there would be an issue but there wasn’t.

Only needed 15 litres at £0.797 per litre so all good.

Am lucky with having two Morrisons petrol stations and an independent within a few miles of where my van is stored.
