Just been told by a motorhome LPG fitter that fill points are no longer fitted to the bottle locker doors ?! Any thoughts or info regarding this … thank you.

In Portugal an assistant told me "we don't fill bottles" I pointed out the outside filler & told her it was a tank & she filled me.
IMO not worth the risk of fitting it in the locker, if you are low on gas and not another outlet for miles & get refused you are stuffed. It's no more work to fit a filler in the sill.

I think the best place is in the skirt near to the locker , reason when you go to fill up its plane To see you are filling gas bottles and some garages do not like it
Yes. In the side skirt everytime for me. Ticks all the boxes. Doesnt cost anymore. It looks like you have an external tank and which fuel assistant is going to physically check.

More and more of the newer vans don’t have any room in the skirts , quite a few vans coming out now with almost flat under floors leaving no space ⚠️

Unfortunately I had gasit fitted the day after I bought my motorhome, it was my choice to have it fitted in the door, but the fitter didn’t question it or advice to fit anywhere else, it’s nearer 5 y/o than 4 and I’ve had no problems, 🤞🤞🤞

They‘re not supposed to sell it for domestic use, just propulsion, that’s why. It’s the same in Spain, Italy and Greece.
But they usually do.
We’ve only been refused once (in Greece) but we just went to the next fuel station half a mile away and filled up there. Now we fill the gas before we fill with diesel.
When we fitted the Gaslow system we put the filler in the skirt of the motor home so it looks like it’s going into a tank, not bottles in the locker next to it.
France were a little awkward with several stations just telling me it 'didn't work'. Spain however were fine. They were fully aware it was for filling a bottle but did it for me on several occasions.

Just need to remember to turn off the bottle before you arrive!

Yep, always do that if I'm going to fill up, although not strictly necessary as the fill pressure is around 140psi and the regulator rated at 230 psi but not worth the risk with regulators at £200.

I have Safefill bottles so I have to open the gas locker.
I've only had one problem - at an Asda in Derby where the girl came out to check the bottles.
I've had no problems in Germany and they even have self service terminals open 24/7.
I was worried in France after all the horror stories but the girl at the supermarket pay kiosk couldn't give toss.
Although I never found a LPG pump in France available outside opening hours.

Our's was fitted in the door and I have to say that I do get a bit concerned that when the door closes it looks as though the pipe kinks and I wonder whether it gets damaged, though it has been installed for about 5 years.
It seems the installers thought it was the best place. Putting it in the skirt would have made it too difficult for me to bend down that low and get the filler nozzle attached easily

Ours is inside the locker. I wouldn't fancy it in the door due to the flexing but have never been questioned on filling
