Lots of FLT at La Zenia (SE Spain)

There are adequate campsites and camperstops to accommodate a normal winter attendance...
Are there though? I beg to differ, campsites are rammed and so are the camperstops in the warmer areas, there may be some places inland that are available but they're ruddy cold in winter.

Judging by the number of MHs on car parks etc there's no way the existing campsites and camperstops could cope with anymore anyway, the only option is to then create and allow MHs to stop in more specific places where they want to be, ie where it's warm. Whilst it's legal to park where they do they will continue to do so, as for other areas unless there are rules prohibiting it, which are then enforced which they usually aren't, some will use them too.

I read quite a lot of threads which contain reports of parking restrictions in Spain, but then I read other threads where people seem to manage to park OK with no problems, e.g. Tam in his recent posts in thread 'Doc on tour, France, Spain, Morroco.' and others.

I wonder whether the problem arises where there are 20+ MHs which attract police attention and that spots with only 3-4 are left alone.
The small village where I am, we have a fantastic carpark for the cemetery. Last few years solitary vans would turn up stay a couple of weeks and move on, the police acknowledging them as they passed daily. Not so this year, all have been moved on as soon as they are parked. I think Spain is starting to take action.

Seems some double standards here, it's OK for you to stop where you want as you live there but not tourists ignoring the long termers blocking up even official aires for 3 or 4 months so not giving anyone else a chance to get on.

No double standards from us. We're only against the long stayers and the ones inconsiderately parking and taking up multiple spaces, even disabled spaces in some cases.

You're right, we do stop where we want and we want to be able to continue doing so. The difference is we park considerately, within a marked space if required, and don't overstay our welcome. We'd really like to continue doing so but we can see that this may change due to the present situation.

Nothing to do with where we live, we'd feel the same in other countries also. Why is consideration such a hard thing for some people?

Is this acceptable? Not to us. Widely advertised on their YouTube channel.

And I will give a sprinkle of Fairydust over suitable areas of land and out pops lots of places to free park...
Just how flippant an answer is that....😄, what is happening is the greater numbers of motorhomers all with the same idea..every year more and more...let me say this is jumar and jumartoo posting on Motorhome Fun...as forum members...we are members of other Spanish based forums who have the very same views..something will give in time.

I never said it was easy or possible, just one solution, feel free to sprinkle though my little fairy. 😄

The usual supply and demand model that sorts most market issues out falls short here because there is no pricing mechanism. Normally as demand increases prices go up. In this instance there is no price control mechanism and in lots of cases eg supermarkets no price at all, and so demand has risen far faster than supply. There is no way motorhomers are going to regulate it themselves and so the only long term way to control this is to implement price controls anywhere that a motorhome parks up either through a seasonal permit or day rate. The price can then be tuned over time to optimise occupancy without overspill.

We are in the lucky position that we don't have to come to Spain in January, February and March next year and to be honest we will be doing either Asia or India for our winter sun.
Unfortunately not everyone has that choice and it's just going to get worse.
The solution Is I have no idea.
It's a shame really as we do support the local bars and restaurants.
