Lost Hymer passenger side teardrop headlight protector?

Question .
Do they break from daylight running lights getting hot ? I have switched mine off after receiving that advice.
I changed to LED because of the heat, whilst it appears they may not be the problem, the standard tungsten 21w bulbs do get very very hot. This can be seen by the browning of the plastic bulb mounts on ours (2014 B544) When I felt the glass lenses the heat was localised to the DRL area which can’t be good having a hot area and the rest cold.
Luckily, our models DRL’s aren’t on the Canbus circuit so could be replaced with ordinary, non Canbus friendly LED’s.
Replacing with ‘Canbus friendly’ bulbs can make the heat problem in the plastic mount worse as the bulb just burns off the excess wattage by heating the body of the bulb.
These are the ones we used.

By coincidence, I was looking at the lamin-x fitted to Hils and Glenns lights at Pickering, Steve if you can find a copy of mmm june 2017, there is a technical article on someone fitting it.
With regard to the heat issue, my shattered unit was fixed out of warranty as I could prove the unit was cold and the vehicle had not moved for days. It shattered when I stood on the habitation step, the bodywork moving into contact with the glass and bang. Always the same side, opposite the habitation door. Whatever you do mojo , don't go onto the facebook HOG's and ask, you will likely get banned.
