Lost 2 Schengen days by accident -beware

Not been to HK for a number of years, i thin 2015 last time. We loved it then but a lot has changed. If you were to go i would suggest booking on the Island itself, not Kowloon (although good)
Singapore would be a great place for stop over. Been many many times, clean, polite, lots to see and do.
Never saw any of this strict aurthanit.......arian? that has been mentioned.
AND being bias, Dubai is a great place for a stop over. Don't believe most of what you read about the bad things. Wonder why they are getting something like 25 million tourists a year, they all cannot be wrong.
Visited HK in 2011 as part of a trip to Australia/NZ…..it was the ideal stopover. We loved it but not sure I’d want to be there these days! I think the Covid restrictions are still fairly onerous.

You must never mention the lizard people or you could be banned from entering the Schengen area for 2 years: :whistle2:

Love the quote saying it's an over the top response like his views aren't over the top!! Maybe he'll go to the states instead he might fit in well with some of the preppers.

There's more to it but this paragraph is the gist:

"Icke had been expected to address a demonstration Sunday by an anti-authority group called Together for the Netherlands."

Somehow the Dutch police got the idea that Icke was responsible for one of their own opposition MPs describing some of their government as lizard people, a reference to Icke's theories. So Icke got an official ban, not merely from entering the Netherlands to attend this demonstration, but from entering the entire Schengen area for 2 years. For something someone else said in the Netherlands. How over the top can you get.

To be fair, I used to enjoy reading Icke's website before it became closed to registered members only. Entertaining stuff. How his harmless lizard conspiracy theory could be considered a threat to Dutch public safety and provoke far-left violence is beyond my imagination. It seemed to some observers to be an oblique attack on Dutch opposition MPs by their own government, to stop them getting publicity on the back of Dutch news media wishing to capitalise from Icke's controversial celebrity status. A counter-plot, in effect. Makes you suspect there could be lizard people behind this ... :Eeek:

We're looking at going to Australia early 24 and that's a possible stopover but Dubai doesn't really appeal to me at all. Maybe I need to research it a bit but were not shoppers at all
Dubai is a stunning city well worth a few days stop over if you can get it in a deal

I suppose it's no different to if you changed flights in a country needing a visa to enter but hadn't applied as it was not going to involve leaving airside. I'm not a seasoned enough traveller to even know if that's allowed!
Years ago a friend was traveling cheap to Thailand he had to change in india his flight was delayed so he missed his connection, so the airline put him on an internal flight to another big city in india to continue on to Thailand on a different flight. All was well until he disembarked and had his passport checked, of course he didnt have a visa, he then spent three hours in airport security until his story was checked out. He said it wasn't a pleasant experience but as he had all the flight info and a ticket onward to Thailand, they decided it was easier to put him on the plane.
