Looks like I'm going to have to join either CMC / CCC.....

Think i will try one next time i am looking. Not concerned about the few ££s saving, just curious to try.
Generally, £12 a night supplement on main sites for non-members.

Left Tewksbury CAMC on way down to Cornwall, stayed 2 nights over weekend it was rammed full

(66% caravans and 33%mohos. The mohos were 66% british, never seen so many TOADS on one site

I also think it is the weekends that are rammed until Sept

We're on a CL in E. Sussex with only one other pitch in use - last night there were 2 others. Last week on the C&MC late bookings site half of the sites I looked at had space at the weekend, as well as midweek.

Thanks all, I apologise for the late night and ambiguous post lol.

So, I've spent hours looking for somewhere for next weekend for me and the Mrs and want to take the dogs this time to see how they like it and how we like them with us lol.

So, already have searchforsites, parkfornights and the new version of the wildcamping one that was on moonfruit. Oh and Britstops.

But this time I plan on using the chairs and BBQ we spent £500ish on before going to Scotland in June and not even using them LOL.

So, I'd happily wild / off grid but don't want to be that guy that then treats a pub / car park as a site if you see what I mean.

As for pitchup, I've never come across that site I have to admit and there do seem to be some sites going but they seem stupidly expensive, are pitchup a sort of site "broker" taking a cut?

If you have a motorhome why do you need a site for a night?
Lots of other options with less rules
Any suggestions other than those above ?

Another site Ive never seen, I'll have a good search in a moment!

Keep hearing how busy sites are.
We just did 5 nights (should have been 7 but got there day late and left day early due to bad weather).
Pitten Cross on the Gower, it was less than half full for the 5 nights we were there. On our drive about's in the hire car we called in three other sites to see what they looked like in case we were to go to that area also. All three had plenty of sites available (we asked at reception).
Just booked a site for 3 nights with EHU in Shropshire in 2 weeks time.
So find it strange people are having difficulty finding places to book.

Strange but true sadly. Even just tried Pitten Cross as never heard of it and can't get a booking so ........

We’re in Norfolk. We’ve easily booked a week on two different CLs. We feel being members of the C&MHC is well worth it for the CLs and their insurance.

The CL we’re on now is lovely. It’s a farm site with glorious views across the countryside. With only five pitches, it’s really quiet.

Aye and this is why Im thinking I'll have to join one of these organisations to get access to more pitches, though need to do some research to see which may be better for us.

Trust me.......... Down South all the laid back... no singing no dancing sites we have tried are booked solid in Devon/Dorset...

Your Haven type screaming kids and rowdy sites might have vacancies if that is what you want.. :frowny:
God no.

Currently at Longbeach, New Forest. There is lots of space, I have never seen it this quiet before. No facilities or electric hookups could be putting the new wave campers off.

Oh, now that could be a goer, just checked and they have availability at a good price!

Only £12 a night here at Woodside Field and yes we have some availability even a few spaces available at next weeks rally, but be quick.

Oh, didn't realise realise we have a FUN site so to speak, sadly don't have the shifts to get to the rally, but had a look on your website and it looks lovely! You're on my list as it sounds idyllic!

What area are you looking in? we are in Southampton and because of family commitments book within an hour's travel. I found the odd site full but have never had to make more that 3 calls to find a site. Mrs. Ex still works Monday and Friday mornings so we go for 3 nights Monday to Thursday I have just booked 3 trips within the last week
ALMOST anywhere. I say that but I guess anywhere within 2-3 hours of Bedfordshire according to google. So that is essentially pretty much all of East Anglia, stretching over to Bath direction, then up to the bottom of the Peak District and down to Brighton / New forest?

Ill start off about 9am so aim to get somewhere about lunchtime, then on Sunday get some for late afternoon.

Devon, Cornwall (yes I know, what else can I expect), various just north of the M4 corridor, a couple in Wales. 🤷‍♂️

These were club sites, not CL’s. And for short breaks we try to stay within a 2 hour radius. (y)

Devon / Cornwall is just too far for 2 nights from here sadly and won't consider down that way until the kids are back at school and probably out of season too :-) But yeah Im thinking 2 - 3 hours is about the limit for a weekender.

No problem getting into CL’s (prefer them anyway)
Weekdays are usually quieter than weekends if your domestic arrangements allow this.
One more short trip to CL planned before going into hiding for remainder of July and August

CLs mean joining one of the clubs though there do seem to be some that allow non members?
We're both nurses working in neonatal so my shifts are usually all over the place but her's is generally between Mon-Fri so we're usually stuck with weekends :-/ not normally an issue to be fair but summertimes the crunch I guess...
britstops my friend...britstops :)

Already a member, but cant get the dogs, chairs and bbq out as it's poor form.

Is that a specific late bookings site then that the C&MC have?

Last night a roe deer ambled past and saw this little fella just up the road.

Yes pitchup do take a cut
Some are expensive .Put on lowest price first
Just spent 4 nights on a cs hardstanding £72 with electric £ 60 without
Great small site for dog & BBQ
Also just spent 4 nights on a farm field £39

This is strange and i really don't understand. At Pitten Cross as mentioned it was LESS than half full whilst we were there, yet at the entrance they had their Camp Site Full No vacancies Board. Whats that all about?

You really don't know how great a decision that is.
Not only sounds idyllic but really is.

I've always found the search facility on UK Campsite really useful

The C&MHC have more of the small sites. We joined both clubs to start with but only used one site in the C&CC in a year.

We are members of both sites but tend to go to more C&MC CL's mainly due to their web site being better.

What rules are those that you don't like then?
Our experience of club sites is - arrive, pay, park, set up, shower, relax. Pack up, leave.
Not too onorous to my mind.
Both clubs are also now relaxed about how to park our continental door motorhome.
We like the 6m spacing and the excellent shower/toilet blocks as well.
Club sites and CLs for us every time.

Ended up joining the C&MC in the end after much discussion with her indoors and booked a couple of nights at
Broomfield Farm Caravan Club Site which is between Royal Tunbridge Wells and Eastbourne. No idea if it has much to do around there but she wanted somewhere within easy distance of a beach
