London LEZ scare

Yes, the congestion charge will still need to be paid on top of emmisions zone.

I can't understand why there is not a standard world wide emissions disc for the window, and as the years move on you get a different colour  or is that too simple.

In 2021 the ulez is being extended to the area within the North and south circular roads. Laura is just inside and her diesel car will not comply

I now understand that the extension to the N+S circular is planned for 2021.

My house in SW London is inside by about 4-500m.

If I were resident there I would have to pay £12.50 to go out for the evening and another £12.50 to come back after 2400 - taxing Cinderella!

As for the idea from Tfl that there will be a 'sunset period' to allow owners to change vehicles, that is preposterous for MHs that are hardly run in. These legislators have no grasp of reality - MHs polluting London? I think not. MH owners get out of London not drive around inside it.

Maybe we could persuade the Mayor to grant an exception for a MH exiting from an address within ULEZ providing it had a pre-booked campsite outside - like the MOT exemption when going or a Test.

the prices of fines for parking and this kind of thing are really rediculas now, and to say it is to lower emissions is equaly as bad , if it was just for that vehicals that didnt meet it would be banned altogether not charged £12.50 for the privalige , still , its of no concern to me as i have never been inside the m25 in my own motor and dont intend breaking the habit now.

So how old is the car now if it wont comply in 2021?

Any diesel car before 2017 is unlikely to comply, Laura's car is 6 years old now, residents will get an extra year to meet the emissions, so the car will be 10 years old then and she will probably have replaced it by then. A petrol car need only be euro 4 to comply. Mrs. Gasman's car coming up to 3 years old will be OK. MO HO will not.

I know a lad with a van like the above , except his has large holes in various places:LOL:, & who lives inside the emissions zone & uses the vehicle daily. He's certain that in many places the cameras don't record for emissions purposes. Never been stopped or received a fine.

or is that too simple
yes , far to simple.:D2Where's the money in that ?

You cannot go . If directed to by say a Policemen then I would want it in writing or prefer to be arrested as you will receive a fine .
Say the Dartford crossing is shut & you are not compliant. The only way is to go the opposite way around the M25.
Quite correct to sabve polution you must burn lots of fuel and go beck around the wrong way and send all your debris over the city as it is downwind of Heathrow direction. DO NOT GO DOWN THE A13 to blackwall tunnel, park up and wait for it to open again or go back.

Yes.
Even though the ULEZ hasn't started yet they emailed me a while back that " 53% of those who were surveyed( that included me who voted against) agreed that the ULEZ should be extended ".So from =ctober 2021 it goes out as far as the north & south circulars-

ULEZ is coming
To help improve air quality, an Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) will be in place in central London from 8 April 2019. Most vehicles including cars and vans will need to meet new, tighter exhaust emission standards (ULEZ standards) or pay a daily charge to travel within the area of the ULEZ.

From 25 October 2021, the ULEZ area will be expanded to include the inner London area bounded by the .

https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra-low-emission-zone

from the same date the existing LEZ emissions will get stricter.

When I asled TFl " 53% of what amount" I still haven't hada reply ? Funny that . Perhaps it needs an FOI ?
53% of TFL office workers all wanting job security and a raise.

Update, Project Khan has brought this forward to include the old LEZ Zone to October 2020. This means anyone entering after that date will need to be Euro VI compliant or pay a daily charge as previously stated. It is going to be a total pain because there are not enough Converters around to update vehicles over 3.5 tons . And the cost to convert a 3.5ton+ vehicle is £12k larger vehicles are being quoted at £ 18K !!!!!!! The daily charge is as stated £12.50 for under 3.5ton £100.00 for over. PER DAY!!
The ironic bit is that pollution from HGV S is estimated to be 12% Domestic Pollution is far greater together with private cars. aircraft and diesel trains.
Its a nice little earner for him.
Somehow think there could be a lack of items in the shops and deserted streets. !

When they started the congestion charge must be 15 or more years ago I never did another load into London, for us it was principle we were already paying enough.
I retired 13 years ago but I don't know many Road Hauliers that are still in business, and the ones that are have been saved by the pallet network. :D

Even back then they were saying tax all the European trucks they come and always have with big tanks of cheap fuel  and make it a level playing field.
All that's changed is they don't have a haulage industry. :swear2:

Dont need stickers now, you have a number on the front and back that ANPR can read many metres away

But in the UK you have to register if you are foreign whereas in other countries everyone has to obtain a sticker.
