Please help I’m losing my hair! Unsure weather to buy the first that has Auto50,000miles &has a tow bar, £3000 cheaper and has had a floor repair work done and a small bump on rear quarter…. or the other that’s newer but smaller engine 6speed manual & I’d have to buy a towbar?

Help appreciated about if any pitfalls before I spend £30thou

Cheers

New one sound the better option.
Fit a towbar for £1500
Call Armitages in Yorkshire to make sure you can actually tow on the vehicle

If I was spending £30k on a motorhome, the first item on my list would be a Euro 6 engine.
Which means built from about 2014 onwards.
(Or at least a Euro5 - built from 2011 onwards)

The problem with pre-2011 diesels is the places they can go will progressively get smaller and smaller.
They are already effectively priced out of the centre of several major UK cities, and that number will get a lot higher over the next decade, which means the resale value of pre-2011 diesels will fall considerably.

But reliability is far better on pre Euro 6
Im not sure pre Euro 6 are priced out of Uk cities.
I drive a euro 5 van in and out of London often, and a Euro 3 car

Ok know what you saying but we have a Honda ADV 350 for those spots in town or an Uber taxi!

Both are very low mileage that would put me off, usually means they have been sitting around most of the time so mechanics would need very careful checking over & a budget of a few £k for repairs.
If the one with the floor repair was due to damp I'd give that one a miss.

The title says LMC Phantom but is it actually an LMC Spirit? As far as I was aware the only Phantom was a Geist Phantom that came in 3 versions, rear lounge, rear transverse bed or French bed.

I have had the Geist Phantom fixed bed version on the Merc 2.7 cdci with 6 speed sprint shift for 7 years. Absolute brilliant bit of kit and I have now got 130,000 miles on it

If it is the Geist phantom it will be based on the T1n Sprinter chassis cab. This ended production at MB around June 2005. Mine is first registered in 2007 but chassis cab was built June 2005. These engines are Euro 3. I don't usually go in any emission zones so doesn't affect me but the upside is you don't have a lot of the junk that's fitted to newer vans (no DPF for example).

These vans were originally sold with a plated weight of 3.85 tonnes which is C1 license. You can get them down to 3.5tonnes but it greatly reduces payload.

The van drives more like a car and has more go than a heavy van filled with fridges and things needs.
