I have an issue with my car I store at Alicante Airport.

First, cheap battery lasted more than 4 years. Even being stood during covid, flat. Replaced it last year with ....... https://tinyurl.com/5n8uz73h

Failed in just under a year, probably because the battery goes flat.

Ask the Storage company to disconnect battery with something like this you ask ?

Or

It's hard enough trying to get them to cover the car, let alone disconnect the battery. Some other companies will, but they charge €25 each time

So, I was wondering if Lithium may be an option ?

Is the car stored under cover?
If not, I'd consider a cheap windscreen solar panel that trickle charges & counters the parasitic draw.

This was very successful when I left my car 8-10 weeks on Oz trips
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00AC1LLQY/?tag=mhf04-21
Prior to using it, I inevitably came back to a flat battery.

Or consider a lithium jump starter
I used this when my van battery died
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00AC1LLQY/?tag=mhf04-21

I'm not sure a lithium battery is recommended as a replacement vehicle battery - but others will have more expertise

supposed to be covered when stored, I dont think they do. Ive had a few disputes with them over this.

First photo is what is supposed to happen.

2nd is when I collected my car one night

Is this a stupid idea ?

Get another battery (same as your engine one) and wire it up so it is just a larger 12 volt battery engine (leaving it in the footwell of passenger) and disconnect prior to starting. Presuming it will double the time your battery will survive without a boost.

If you want to isolate the battery you can get a battery terminal with a screw in connector I had one on my triumph vitesse as an anti theft measure you would of course lose the radio codes etc.

I know nothing about electrics but why would it have to be disconnected?

It works as just a bigger battery surely? 🤔

Is that what he's trying to do, why not just fit an isolator switch or disconnect one of the battery leads?

Yes, like I mentioned above. But it's getting the company to actually carry out the request. I drop it at the airport and they drive it to a compound.

I dont think I would want to drive a vehicle with extra wires connecting to an insecure battery in the footwell.

I also know nothing about electrics

Unless it's put elsewhere, it would still be unsecured in the foot well? 😄

I don't know how far you live from the airport but instead of paying the storage charge, might it not be cheaper to leave the car on trickle at home and use a taxi OR allow someone else to use it while your away,? 🤔
